Oh boy. That can actually hurt his numbers.
I have nothing against Keith. He strikes me as being a very fine and upstanding weasel.

Just kidding

It doesn't hurt that Rick looks like somebodies grandpa and Keith looks like the girls soccer coach who got caught peeking in the shower room.

HNN reported today that the Civil Beat poll show RB with a 20 pt lead over KA.  They also showed 19% still undecided.  RB has a much more favorable rating among all ethnic groups.

The post I found was the group Hawaii for Black Lives supporting Amemiya, the same group that organized the massive march in the middle of quarantine.

Anybody ever watched the movie "The Waterboy"  with Adam Sandler?

Keith's mouth and the way he talks is similar.

It also has helped RB that he runs the media here in the state and that he used that platform all the time to make his statements during broadcasts. He has name and face recognition as being personable and in the community. That's probably one of things I don't like. Much like Bloomberg owning the media, but in this case. he is a thousand times better than KA who is anti-capitalism and pro BIG-government
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

Well, it's over now and The Democrat Keith Amemiya for Mayor is no longer The Democrat Keith Amemiya for Mayor, lol!

Just my opinion but I think Keith would have done a whole lot better if he didn't do 2 things:

Try to run his campaign partisan using the Democrat party.

Ran a smear campaign on Rick and also correlating his association with Trump.

I believe these 2 things did not help him.  It actually hurt him.

With that being said, if Keith did not do the above 2 things and ran a clean campaign concentrating on the issues at hand would he have won?

I don't think so.  Although he was a fresh new face in the political arena his associations in the past with the old boy network probably did him in.  Not his fault but it is what it is.

I'm glad voters used their head instead of their emotions.

Keith extended his congratulations to Rick and pledged his support and help.  I'm sure Rick will be gracious in return to his former opponent.

Although if it was me I would tell Keith to take a flying f*#ck at a rolling doughnut.  ;D  But I've always been a shallow person.......

Rick does not support the 2a.  Doesn't matter as much because its the senate and house members who makes laws and the governor who signs them into law.  But as mayor, he can appoint who's on the HPD chief's election board.  So if Ballard retires in the next  4 years, they can keep the status quo the same of zero CCW or OC permits issued.

But of the 2, I rather have Rick than Keith.  It's a shit sandwitch and I had to take a bite.

That was my rationale for voting Rick.  The Mayor is mainly a city budget manager.  The gun laws we have to contend with are all federal and state level.  2A support is not a concern IMHO for the mayor, city council, etc.  Once we get into the state legislature and state attorney general, 2A support becomes more critical.

The police chief is a big concern, but not much we can do, since the position is appointed, not elected.  In that regard, MAYBE having a pro-2A mayor would come into play, but that assumes (1) there's a vacancy in the dept for a chief, and (2) any of the candidates being considered have respect for the 2A.  I'd like to see the chief come from a pro-2A mainland state, but that will never happen.

Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

And I don't see Ballard retiring in the next 4 years anyways.
