It's a concern I personally don't agree with it and it should be fixed. But saying there's is no verification is fake news. It may be more loose but it exists.
Without knowing who cast that ballot, there is no verification process.
Elections have 4 parts:
1) Voter registration -- make sure they can legally vote in that jurisdiction.
2) Voter identification -- make sure the person casting the ballot is the same as the registered voter on record.
3) Ballot submission -- ensure only official ballots are submitted, they came from the voter above, the ballots are properly completed and are received by the deadline.
4) Audit and count the ballots to ensure they are valid. Most ballots have serial numbers for tracking.Ensure the number is associated with a registered and verified voter. Ensure it arrived on time. Ensure it's properly completed and, if mailed-in, has a proper signature that MATCHES the signature on file.
If any one of those parts is circumvented or not enforced, there IS NO VALIDATION OR VERIFICATION being done.
Calling something "fake news" is not an argument, Mr. Disinformation.
