The AP and the media have been calling elections for over 100 years why is it now only a concern?
The media is able to call elections based on obvious results -- races that are not toss-ups.
But, when states are so close that a recount is automatic, the state should remain a toss-up and NOT BE CALLED by ANYONE.
Until a state certifies their election results, they can change. The media calling the elections early not only interferes with the election itself, but it creates a false opinion in the public's mind that one candidate has won, and in the face of legitimate, rightfully legal challenges, the one contesting the results is "refusing to accept the outcome." As if the outcome was already certified.
If the margin of victory is > 2% with 90%+ districts reporting, it's a given that the race is 99.9% over. In the case of swing states where Trump was tens of thousands of, and even over a hundred thousand, votes ahead of Biden which overnight swung to Biden (while no GOP poll watchers could verify the results), then the numbers are suspect.
You still don't get that a fair and honest election requires the opportunity for ALL PARTIES to observe the ballot counting, right?
