that's not the video i was talking about
video is contained in this post
https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=38772.msg352291#msg352291
you should watch the whole video, but at least watch the video from the 0:30 and the 11:45 mark (or at least 14:00 to see vs sweden)

his other video posted later is good too
https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=38772.msg352400#msg352400

i've also suggested several times that you should look at the differences between "cases" as defined by scientists vs "cases" as defined by the media and politicians
AND to look at how PCR tests are administered, especially in reference to "PCR doubling"
as indicated in this post

Watched it.   Kids dying was not the reason we shut down the schools it was they will spread it to others.

The horror experts might of got things wrong about a unknown virus and out of caution recommended stricter things.

Then changing position when more info came out and better procedures to fight the virus came to light.   Trump never ever flip flops.

He lied, children have died of covid.

I still support the scientists and experts. Could of the response been different if we knew what we knew back then.  Maybe.   It's it practical to expect that?  No.  Did Trump cause so much confusion on top of the unknowns? Yes.  Tbh Hawaii went with caution. And I think overall we did a decent job.

I think fauci is good.   He has done far more good than bad,  I support him.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/more/masking-science-sars-cov2.html

Multi-layer cloth masks block release of exhaled respiratory particles into the environment,3-6 along with the microorganisms these particles carry.7,8  Cloth masks not only effectively block most large droplets (i.e., 20-30 microns and larger)9 but they can also block the exhalation of fine droplets and particles (also often referred to as aerosols) smaller than 10 microns ;3,5 which increase in number with the volume of speech10-12 and specific types of phonation.13 Multi-layer cloth masks can both block up to 50-70% of these fine droplets and particles3,14  and limit the forward spread of those that are not captured.5,6,15,16 Upwards of 80% blockage has been achieved in human experiments that have measured blocking of all respiratory droplets,4 with cloth masks in some studies performing on par with surgical masks as barriers for source control.3,9,14
That's political garbage from the CDC. Read the claimed sources. None of those sources are real world randomized controlled trials, the only kind of evidence even Lord Fauci says bears any weight of persuasion or evidentiary certitude. Of course he's a hypocrite and liar, so don't take his word for it. Most medical researchers concur that RCTs provide by far the strongest evidence for any medical research question ("double blind" is even better, but people will know if they are wearing a mask or not...).

What difference does it make if this or that kind of mask inhibits "up to 50%" of certain size particles in some laboratory contraption? None. Because the only evidence that counts, randomized controlled trials, in the real world (i.e. population studies), clearly show that masks, no matter what laboratory scientists claim they do in the lab (they could say in the lab that a gator stops 99.99% of particles... so?), show no statistically measurable effectiveness at stopping viral transmission. The CDC itself, as I posted above, has that evidence as a systematic review of 10 RCTs on it's own site.

That's why they have to lie with this: "Data regarding the “real-world” effectiveness of community masking are limited to observational and epidemiological studies".

That a blatant lie. See my post of their own systematic review of the RCTs. Not only do they fail to refer to or even acknowledge those peer-reviewed RCTs posted on their own site, they also fail to acknowledge the large Danish RCT released two weeks ago showing that with a group of almost 6,000 participants, half masked and half not, that there was no statistically significant difference in rates of viral transmission and infection between the masked group and the unmasked group".

Now... why would the CDC lie in plain sight?

He doesn't explain countires and studies that contradict his "arguments".  So far the scientific community is still split on this.  Perhaps in 5 years we might know who is 100% right.  But so far a majority still say masks etc work.

Perhaps I do belong to the science cult.  I don't regret this.   Much like many belive in the religious "cult".

As for your testing hypothesis. If there was that many false positives that does not explain the hospitalizations and deaths.

The cold or flu does not require ventilators.  I too know "real" doctors and a few doctors in training.

Also does not explain excess morality.  In a world of lockdowns with less car deaths etc.

the countries that contradict these numbers are all eastern countries that already had high numbers of mask compliance, social practices that do not emphasize handshaking and hugs, social norms that disapprove of loud communication and yelling, plus a confucian belief in the fact that what benefits the group benefits the individual

Correct.   And not yet 100% doesn't explain Australia and New Zealand.

I'm not saying masks will solve everything but a part of the solution.   If you miss a part of the solution it makes it harder to reach your goal.  The usa will never change is culture like that.  But because of that we need to stress things we can do to help the situation.  Masks are easy.  Encourage social distancing, every little bit helps.

I'm mainly focused on America the rest of the world's data is not as high of credibility.  And testing is lacking.   Along with infinity more complicated variables.

How does one know what the “scientific community” is split on? Is he part of said community? I’m now, but a good friend is...

This is what you said.  How do I interpret that differently? Are you saying that people hospitalized for covid symptoms according to your doctors are not ill from covid?

Government issued cult membership cards:

FIRST PHOTOS — Covid vaccination and ‘immunity cards’ to be issued to all Americans…

‘You don’t need an ID to vote but show me your papers to go anywhere and do anything’

On Wednesday the Department of Defense released the first images of a Covid vaccination record card as well as vaccination kits. “Everyone will be issued a written card that they can put in their wallet that will tell them what they had and when their next dose is due,” says Dr. Kelly Moore, associate director of the Immunization Action Coalition. “Let’s do the simple, easy thing first. Everyone’s going to get that.”

Well since I can't verify that, my opinion still stands with the apparent majority that its covid killing most people.  If you have underlying conditions and covid contributes to a death its still covid related.  Just having diabetes and high blood pressure might be bad on its own but not lethal, combine it with covid and if you die, its covid that pushed you over the edge.

The ID cards puna posted, looks great.  I look forward to getting my vaccine and proof of immunity then I would feel safe rolling back distancing and mask mandates. Think the CDC might actually pull off this vaccine campaign.  Looks hopeful!

From Tom Woods (cult deprogrammer) today:

Every day there are more charts that undermine the "we have to stay home and cancel everything" narrative, and I have a couple of those for you today, but first I want to show you something else.

Someone I follow on Twitter just released a Tweet thread that sums up the inhuman COVID response so beautifully that I had to share it with you:

The East Coast is home to a little under 130,000,000 people. And 130 million is the number of people in the world that our global overreaction to COVID has pushed to the brink of starvation according to the World Health Organization.

Do you support lockdowns? You may think you’re being virtuous, but you're being selfish. Imagine driving from Portland, Maine thru Boston, NYC, Philly, DC, Atlanta, Miami. Now imagine everybody you saw on your trip starving. All 130 million of them. Those are faces of lockdowns.

Add to that people right here at home so afraid of COVID they stay home while having strokes and heart attacks. They stay home or are delayed from chemo and other life-maintaining treatments. Some sit alone in despair, drinking alcohol or abusing drugs.

Some lash out at spouses and children who have no school or social life in which to find refuge or help -- or detection.

Kids growing up spending formative chunks of their lives learning that being close to another human is dangerous and the very breathe we exhale is poison. You don’t think that’s going to have long-term effects?

Alzheimer's patients confused, lost in their own fading world with no one working to keep them afloat -- they drown in their isolation. Grandparents denied the joy of one of the definitive pleasures of life -- hugging a grandchild or seeing the joy of their faces Christmas morning.

“But lockdowns save lives,” you cry. But denying human contact, scaring people to death, driving people to despair -- is this “saving” lives? And how many lives does it save?

All through the US and Europe many places that locked down thought they stopped cases, but it wasn’t lockdowns. It was summer. And when summer was over, COVID returned. Masks, social distancing, lockdowns, all ripped through by COVID like a football team running through a paper banner.

No proms, no third-grade shows in a crowded gym, no science fairs, no big games, no school (that they used to say they didn’t like but now walk around like zombies pining for the interactions). Shortcomings in education lead to a lifetime of shortcomings, from career choices and earning power, to emotional development and family building.

Supply chains disrupted. Jobs lost. Production slowed. 130 million people in danger of starvation. It’s easy for many of us in the middle class to hunker down and work from home. Just buy a new computer for kids' remote schooling and work from the den. Not everybody has that option.

I was originally going to close this issue here, but I can't resist sharing two charts, courtesy of Ian Miller (@ianmSC).

Remember when Dr. Fauci said Florida was "asking for trouble" by fully reopening (the state had already been mostly open anyway for a while)? Sure you do.

And remember when he said New York was a model of how to handle the situation? Again, sure.

Now do you recall him saying anything recently about this?

Me either.

How about California, where nobody can do anything?

They must be doing much better than Florida right now, right?

Hmm:

Let me remind you: there are no restrictions in Florida.

It's almost like all the joy California is taking from its people, and all the ways it's crushing and impoverishing them, is for nothing.
