The people have the ability OUTSIDE OF THEIR OFFICIAL OFFICE to exercise their individual rights.  When they do so during the execution of their official duties, they have no individual rights.  They represent the government, whether it's local, state or federal.

Explain why the courts sided with the plaintiffs in cases that removed religious symbols from government property.  I bet you didn't know there was a white cross at Kolekole Pass nor the reason why it's no longer there.

God-given has been legally defined as rights endowed by our creator.  Call that God or whatever, it's all under the caveat "natural rights" -- rights which automatically exist and are yours simply because you are a living human being.

God can't protect you only,  yourself, others and the government can.  The government formed by people who decide your rights.  If you don't like it everyone can get together and form a new government.  Rights don't magically appear. They are formed by agreements. 

You just by yourself have only your freewill. That's not rights.   Your freewill can be different than others,  it can even go against others.  Rights are based on central authority.
