Are you saying you can hit a tangerine at 50 yards reliably with a red dot?  I smell a "bet, bet, bet. . . bet bet bet bet bet" (Flintstones style).

Maybe like a game of horse.  Gotta call shot and shooting position (standing, on bench with rest, time constraint, etc).  That actually would be pretty fun.  Sitting from bench with rest would be relatively easy if you have a good zero, and if not, too bad.  Haha

That style of grip is used for precision shooting. If you look at high level precision and long range shooting competitions. And even sniper training. Many of the shooters and instructors are using this grip for shots. I think it is primarily used like someone said earlier to keep your hand and thumb muscles relaxed and reduce very small amounts of subconscious clenching of your grip when pulling the trigger.

As far as I can tell it is only used for shots when you have time to set up and don’t have to rapidly transition to new targets.

Jerry Miculek may be a space alien able to hit while shooting at superhuman speed, 
Most need some time beyond cycling the action to settle down and score hits.

That guy had a slick way of cycling and firing, but it was a stunt unless accuracy could be shown.

This is the only real precision shooting position.

No way that is more accurate than a good prone position.
Far too many points of wiggle and tremor.

Maybe he did this as a "trick shot" thing?

Should he not close the bolt to make the shot?
