In other news, Germany and other places in Europe just experienced historic flooding due to torrential rainfall.

Worst in over 500 years.

Hmmmmm......

this is all about trying to stop the Gobi Desert from expanding, they have been worried about dustbowls because they keep over using their farm land. Communism is really crappy at managing resources.

China's 'Great Green Wall' Fights Expanding Desert

Deforestation, overgrazing, and overuse of water by people are some of the leading factors responsible for desertification. In China, the problem has been occurring along four types: "aeolian desertification," which is caused by wind erosion after vegetation is destroyed; "water and soil loss," due to water erosion that is mainly distributed in the Loess plateau; "salinization" due to poor water management; and "rock desertification,” distributed in the Karst region of southwestern China.

Currently, 27.4 percent of China is desertified land, affecting about 400 million people.

Also China is damming up all the water running thru their country trying to hoard it while royaly Fing over ALL the countreis below it, they are really shitty neighbors.

https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/06/china-is-turning-its-water-scarcity-crisis-into-a-weapon/

China Is Turning Its Water-Scarcity Crisis into a Weapon

Beijing’s actions reflect the government’s recognition that extreme measures are needed. Water scarcity for human consumption, power, and irrigation is a significant source of potential instability. China’s water problem is serious.

By some estimates, two billion people or more in some 18 countries depend upon a dozen or so major rivers, most of which emanate from the Tibetan plateau in the southwest. These include the Indus, Mekong, Yangtze, Yellow, Irawaddy, Brahmaputra, and other rivers. The region is sometimes referred to as “the third pole” given amount of water sourced by the Himalayan ice fields. The PRC has controlled this area through force and occupation since shortly after Mao Zedong rose to power in 1949. It has been estimated that, over the decades, Beijing has fashioned a whopping 87,000 dams on some of these rivers, among the world’s most important waterways.

The extensive damming by the PRC of these international rivers on its face is an ominous move by Beijing to exert influence and power throughout Asia and to establish dominance over water, power, and agriculture. It also seems to be aimed at undermining India’s own influence in the region, skewing the allegiance of affected countries that depend upon these waters.

China’s control of water on the Asian landmass is worrisome, to be sure. It will affect the politics and security of the region for decades. But the actions reflect not PRC strength, but weakness. Water scarcity has been long recognized as a danger for China. With nearly 20 percent of the global population, China has about 7 percent of the world’s freshwater. But the problem goes beyond sheer volume. Simply put, there is too much water where too few live, and too little water where too many live. This is not a modern problem. In 1952 Mao is said to have observed that “the South has lots of water, the North has less. If it were possible, borrowing would be good.” This at a time when China’s population was a third of what it is today.

So when Trump says Global Warming is Chinese Communist propaganda, he is not being hyperbolic, they are literally trying to lie their way out of how horribly they are tampering with the entire ecosystem of Asia. And people like Omni think solar panels and electric cars are gonna un-f*ck all the damage China is doing to 1/3 of the water that should be percolating thru the earth surface.

California is throwing a fit about a couple salmon breeding grounds while Viet Nam has lost almost all their fresh water fishing due to China being c*nts.

That fact was discussed in the Sydney Wilson video I posted re: Cuba.  Before Castro took the country down the Communist hell hole, Cuba had great agriculture.  After that,, farmers were told what to plant, how much to plant, and what they would be paid for it.  There was no incentive to increase yield, produce excess to sell, etc.  Agriculture went downhill, with farmland over planted, nutrients depleted, and no motivation to do anything but try and meet quotas.

the great irony of Communism .... they caught Venezuela violating sanctions by importing fuel this week, ONE OF THE RICHEST NATIONS IN PETROLEUM ON THE PLANET IS HAVING TO BUY THEIR GASOLINE FROM IRAN. if that doesnt wake you up to how much Communism fails I dont know what will.

If you haven't watched this video, you should.  It's a great encapsulation of the specific examples of Communism in the last century, and why we have to continue to fight to prevent it in the US.  We have Socialists in the highest levels of government as well as local and state offices.  If this becomes a trend, the United States will be set on the same failed path as other countries that tried some "version" of Socialism.

The tenants that founded this nation, including individual freedom, are diametrically opposed to Socialism and Communism.  They believe the collective is more important than the individual.  Our founders knew that individual freedom must be protected if a nation is to thrive and prosper.

Anyway, if you have half an hour ....

Saw a vid dated in may about their currency. $1usd is like 1.5million venezuela bolivia.

Their dollar is so useless that they use USD mainly now. Their paper money cost more to print than its value. So to have $1usd worth of boli, is like 5lbs of paper bills. Totally not efficient to carry.

Media silent cause its a recent example of how socialism failed again.

Venezuela to Cut Six Zeroes Off Bolivar to Simplify Transactions

Venezuela last carried out a “redenomination” of the bolivar in 2018 and in March began printing a 1 million-bolivar note, the largest in the country’s history. But that bill is now worth just $0.32 and isn’t enough to buy a cup of coffee.

Google scrubs the pics, but they have tons ot their paper money blowing around littering their streets everywhere because its worse less than a candy wrapper.

Tesla Megapack Battery Fire In Australia Finally Extinguished After Four Days Of Burning

On Friday, when the fire was first reported, CFA officials were so concerned about toxic fumes spewing from the battery unit that they issued air quality warnings for surrounding suburbs and urged people to move indoors.

The problem with lithium-ion batteries is that besides emitting toxic fumes during a blaze, the sheer amount of water to extinguish the fire is not ESG-friendly.

For a regular Tesla car battery weighing around 1,200 pounds, it takes about 20 tons of water to put out the blaze. Some Tesla vehicle fires have taken upwards of 75 tons of water.

Now picture a 13-ton, or approximately 26,000-pound battery catching fire and the amount of water needed to extinguish it. CFA didn't release the number of tons of water it took to extinguish the blaze, but statements show it took four days to put out flames.

Like one that green people want others to use?  Fires happen, so even if only a few can be very harmful to the environment. We didn't get our EV due to saving the planet, but because it's a cool car.

Tesla is working on a new battery to be used in the US. Already being used in Germany.  IDK if it was designed to be extinguished easier, but it is designed to get more mileage.  Hits are when the TX gigafactory opens, the new batteries will be used.

Do other cars require similar amounts of water to extinguish?  Like a Prius, ID4, Volt, Mach-E, etc...

Just seems odd to me they are using water on  chemical fires, where's the foam trucks?

I was wondering that too. A previous article stated that fire houses are trained how to deal with Tesla fires.  Yet no foam?  Maybe it expires and to keep it on hand cost too much.  Or the houses are unable to store it, so an airport run would have to be made. Who knows?

That foam is very toxic and there could be more restrictions in Australia
If you allow government to break the law for an "emergency" they will create "emergencies" to break the law.

When fighting a fire, you use what you have at hand.

Foam is mostly for LIQUID chemicals/fuels.  The lithium in batteries is a solid metal.

If the fire is isolated to the engine compartment, water should be all you need.  If you only have a fire extinguisher, use that.

If the fire department gets to the site quickly enough, they may use foam depending on how involved the vehicle is and whether the vehicle is leaking fuel and other liquids.  If fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid, etc. are already contributing to the fire, then foam is probably needed.

One of the biggest concerns in a vehicle fire is explosion.  Not only from the fuel, but from the many struts found on cars.  They are installed on bumpers, hoods, trunks and elsewhere.  Bumpers have been known to explode from the vehicle and travel 75 feet or more.

Tires can also explode, sheering off hubs, wheels and axles and sending them flying.

Beware of combustible metals on vehicles, such as magnesium, lithium, titanium and others used in engine blocks, steering wheels, rims and other parts. When ignited, these materials give off white smoke and a distinct white flame that can intensify when hit with water.

Tires can be huge problems when filled with something other than regular air.

If you're putting out a car fire before the fire department arrives, stay as far back as possible using the full reach of the water or extinguisher on the flames.  When it's out, stay back to let it cool before approaching, as struts and tires can still be hot enough to explode.

Nothing's ever as simple as we imagine.   :geekdanc:

Had to look it up because I am a curious fellow. The vaporizing lithium is what makes the fuel for the fire. So it's not like a thermite reaction. Chem D extinguishers are apparently no Bueno. ABCs are OK. Water is very sub par. And they are designated as a 'class B flammable  liquid fire'.

Nice.

"We can use batteries to store solar and wind power in homes for nighttime, cloudy days and times when the wind stops".

Imagine a row of houses with lithium batteries large enough to run their homes' lights, appliances and devices when there's no power coming in.

Anything to save the planet, huh?

There is something very ironic of going from the olden days where people stored dangerous fuel oils in their homes for light and heat, a system which was jettisoned quickly once they could run clean safe electricity everywhere and now we are going  back to storing dangerous fuel back in our homes.

At least they put propane tanks outside the building....
