Welcome new people. I 2nd the Hawaii Defense Foundation (HDF) events. Usually on the 3rd saturday of the month, they have an open shoot. This is where you can bring your firearm and shoot targets from 3 yards up to 30 yards or so. Pistol, shotgun, rifle, any HI legal firearm. You can also load mags up to 10rds compared to 5rds at the pistol/rifle side at Koko Head. You can also rapid fire as long as you are doing so safely.
Then after the open shoots, they have skill builders which rotate from pistol only to rifle only that teaches good techniques and different types of shooting positions (not just standing on the firing line and shooting). You have to sign up for these and it's on a first come first serve basis.
I have learned a lot from the HDF events, mainly safety. My wife takes the skill builders and open shoots and when she went to CO for classes, she was amazed at the lack of safety compared to the HDF events.
They post on here, their FB and IG when the events take place.
