SB301 Assault rifle/mag ban up for hearing on Friday 2-12-21
https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=SB&billnumber=301&year=2021

SB307 50 cal ban up for hearing on Tuesday 2-9-21
https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=SB&billnumber=307&year=2021

This is critical since this year there are only 2 committee it has to clear instead of 4, so it's fast tracked.

Need help collecting testimonies, looking for 1,000+

For these 2 bills. Hifico I has a easy testimony page:. www.hifico.org/test25

The other bills have to be done on the capitol website.

POS Rhoads again?

I skimmed the bill a while ago, among the obvious features (they missed "the shoulder thing that goes up"), it looked like it banned possesion of magazines over 10.   No grandfather that I noticed.

Grandfather for semi auto rifles and shotguns. No grandfather for mags.

Everyone on this forum should be submitting to oppose. No excuses.

Testimony submitted for both.
Somehow system glitch screwed me so same testimony submitted for both, which makes no sense in the 50 cal bill.
Can’t edit.  :grrr:

Everyone on this forum should be submitting to oppose. No excuses.

There was a misinterpretation of the bill earlier about FFLs.  It's no grandfathering of the firearms and mags.

Typical lawyer weasel wording to fool the low-info types.   I certainly read it as only +10 magazines.

Going to have fun with that, as those mags might only be out in the open if they start trying to confiscate.  And they would not be coming out to be given to the JBTs.

No one here does anything illegal or against the gubmint will.  On Oahu, at any rate.

What strategies do you guys use when submitting written testimony? I assume “I oppose” is not enough. Every time I submit I just go with the whole “violates the constitution” route but is there a different way you all recommend? Or does it not really matter and all they are looking at is the oppose vs support?

Do not know what works with politcians (besides bribes) but I try to just atate my conviction the they are trying to pass things that have no reason to exist.

I point out the homeless epidemic not being addressed, while trying to infringe on the rights of non-criminal.

I find it hard not to go abusive with them, but I am an @sshole.................

I hear yah, at first that’s what I wanted to do. Then I realized it probably wouldn’t do much good if I called them outright traitors and oath breakers.

Votes.  If they don't get votes, they don't stay in office.  Which is why it's important to talk to other people.  Saiki won by just 167 votes or 2%>. My rep won by 20 votes a few years back.

Depends what's the goal.  If it's to add to the numbers just a one liner is fine.  If you want them to read it then go for something different than everyone else or add lots of details.  If you have an related expertise then start with it...police, army, gunsmith, instructor, long time hunter, etc.  Do it in word and upload it.  Use bold and underline, use eye appealing formatting.  Add color charts, pictures, and tables.  Then do oral testimony.

Also bold suggest amendments and state changes you recommend.

Can I show you on the GI Joe where it hurts me?  We should prevail just on hurt feelings alone, I mean, it worked for Greta.
No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

Submitted opposition to the bill.  Glad we can unite on something regardless of politics, religion, ethics, etc.
