Meanwhile the kinder gentler Taliban isn't going to hold their water much longer. State Dept has already admitted the Taliban is going door to door rounding up government workers for execution, and beating women and kids as they make that pub crawl.

Also US treasury just froze billions in Afghan assets,  when we did that to Iran they started taking US people hostage.

"Ninety to ninety-five percent of these are one-off cases," said a former senior law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. "Then you have five percent, maybe, of these militia groups that were more closely organized. But there was no grand scheme with Roger Stone and Alex Jones and all of these people to storm the Capitol and take hostages."

Being a hostage requires being taken against your will and being used as leverage to attain something -- normally on threat of bodily harm/death to the hostage.
