Nah, good point for sure.  Just a bit drastic.  Heck, may even be true in reality.  Just sharing that I have heard (second hand) of folks having had counseling and no impact to gun ownership.

I had a friend see a marriage counselor and 5 years later got a letter from HPD to get clearance letter or turn in all guns.  And in that 5 year period, he did buy many guns and was never stopped by HPD.  That counselor retired, so he had to see another one and pay $200/hr just to get the waiver.  He divorced his wife 4 years prior to the letter from HPD.  They gave him 30 days to get the waiver or turn in all guns and ammo.

Another friend saw a psychologist because he got gastric bypass and it was a requirement.  He too received a letter from HPD to turn in all guns in 30 days or get a waiver. Luckily for him, he was able to get the waiver from the psychologist.

So I guess it does come down to who your provider is and if HPD audits and finds you.  So it is a risk that 1 will have to take, which 1 shouldn't have to take at all if they need help.

Did they apply for new permits when they were flagged ?
Or did the Doctor/Med provider just randomly notify HPD ?
Glad I got all the firearms I need to satisfy my needs and hobby.
I’m planning on never applying for a permit again.

He renewed his permit 5 times. Then after picking up the last one, which he was allowed to do, weeks later he got the hpd letter.

He also registered many guns in 5 years and bought pistols as well.

Something popped and it wasnt the marriage consular cause she retired and moved to CA years prior.
