Carry Conceal - What would you do?
« on: November 07, 2021, 11:31:27 AM »
The big news in the 2A front was the SCOTUS hearing on New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. Corlett, which is about Carry Conceal.  As we all know, any ruling that happens at the SCOTUS level will impact all laws in all 50 states and the DC.

So, lets assume the case goes pro 2A and Hawaii turns into a "Shall Issue" for carry conceal.  What will you do to celebrate this victory?

I will start it off:

1.  Write in the this Forum.  "LETS GO BRANDON" with a subject of "2A Carry Conceal Constitutional"
2.  Walk in  the next business day and apply for a permit with the reason of "IT IS MY CONSTITUIONAL RIGHT TO CARRY CONCEAL SO LETS GO BRANDON"
3.  Submit a permit to purchase a new gun.  SA Hellcat Micro, HK P30SK or SW Shield.
4.  Carry it for about a week then put it away because really I have no desire to carry conceal every day.  However, the option is there when I think it is necessary to be armed,  This is what I want, the right to choose the time and place to protect myself and family.  Sorry but other people doesn't fit in my equation for protection.  I'm not a police office or a super hero.  So make sure you are armed because if I can escape with myself and family without shooting, I'm out of there.

I'm just gonna buy a pocket holster for my P365 and stick it in my front pants pocket.

I mean, after I get the CCW of course.

Make no references to "Brandon".   Just go apply for CCW.

Responding to the "I'll carry when I feel I need to..."

It's called "Everyday Carry" for a reason.  Trouble chooses the time and place -- not you.  When you need a firearm, it'll probably be when and where you least expect to need it.

When asked, "Why do you feel the need to carry a firearm?  What are you afraid of?", my reply is, "For the things that I can't foresee or predict.  If I knew in advance where and when I will need a firearm, I could just avoid those places. Problem solved!  Life's not like that."

"I don't need to carry my pistol today.  I'm just going to work then straight home."

"Hey, Warren.  Did you see the new Xerox copiers?  Um, what's up with the gun?"

I hope you were being a comedian with writing "Let's Go, Brandon" on the application.

One of the things the police will ALWAYS have is the power to deny a carry permit to anyone they deem to be of low or untrustworthy character.  If they know you are the town bully, having had multiple complaints filed against your for threatening people and damaging property, HPD has a duty to make sure you can be trusted with a firearm carried on your person.

Making political or disparaging remarks on your official application may not be received as "funny."

Ah but that is the whole thing about constitutional carry.  The state has to prove unworthiness to deny a right which would probable be at the level of denying a citizens right to bear arms.  It has already been adjugated that disparaging remarks against a public official is a protected 1st Amendment right.  So as long as it doesn't say "Lets Kill Brandon", giving a finger, talking, or writing openly against our leaders would not rise to a level of denial of a Right.  However, the state will try and will hope that the citizens will not fight back because of the large legal fees that would be incurred.  That is how the State will flex it's anti gun right laws, by breaking the bank of the disenfranchised citizen.  (I read somewhere that a lawsuit that goes from local to SCOTUS can cost upwards to $1 million.  I got money but not like that.)

A lot of our discussions are just speculations but all of us know how our leaders in Hawaii feel about the 2nd amendment so we all can see that the speculations are pretty accurate as to what may come about in the near future.

That's why sometimes I get so frustrated that I let the dark side get the best of me and I start wishing Hawaii undergoes a period of mass social unrest and lawlessness.  Something like a Katrina type of disaster where law and order is temporarily non-existent.

I sometimes think a Katrina type of disaster will wake a lot of people up about self-protection.  Those who think HPD will be there when they need them are delusional.  When the SHTF everyone will be out for themselves and their families.  HPD will be no different.

It was only a year or so ago when Hawaii and the nation experienced a panic in firearm purchases and ammunition purchases.  All of a sudden complacent ainokea types and anti-gunner types wanted a firearm for protection.

All it takes is a SHTF scenario to wake everybody up.

A SHTF scenario is a very possible reality.  We already have a big piece of sh*t in the White House and he has been hitting the fan so much there is crap everywhere.

Sorry I digress.  Anyway, soon everyone should apply for CCW.  Don't forget! :stopjack:

I carry every day. Depending on where I am going and what I will be doing will determine whether I OWB, IWB or pocket carry.

For instance, if I am working around my house and making trips to Home Depot I OWB carry. No need to conceal. If I am going to a restaurant or a business that might complain if they see a pistol then I IWB carry or pocket carry. I have to say that pocket carry is much more comfy to carry even over IWB carry. Tho the pocket gun is using a cartridge smaller than 9mm Luger.

I would like to have at least a few options.  a few of those options will be revolvers, of course.   :shaka:
I could probably use my LCR with almost any clothing I'm wearing bc its small, and I have a couple carry options for it
fits in my pocket, prints smaller than my wallet.  J frame is good too for a small revolver

The above is right, it's called EDC for a reason. BJ Baldwin didn't carry daily, until he was involved in a road rage incident that the other guy took out a bat. Luckily, he was able to drive away. He was just going down the street for milk.  Since that event, he carried daily. Which saved his life. And now I'll bet his gf Top Gun Tori will carry daily too. She wasn't armed at the time. And NV has permit less open carry and shall issue CCW which is very easy to obtain.

I have 2 K Frames (Model 10 in 38 and Model 547 in 9mm) and I have an SP-101 in 9mm. I have a IWB/OWB holster (Simply Rugged) that all 3 fit into. The holster when I wear it OWB tucks the gun up tight enough that I wear an unbuttoned flannel shirt over it and I am very concealed. Even better of course if I wear it IWB. But wearing OWB is much more comfy. So I keep my Model 10 in my rotation of EDC. I will eventually add the SP-101 into the rotation. I probably won’t use the Model 547 in my rotation as it has some wear on the finish from when my father owned it. I don’t want to add to the wear since it has some sentimental value to me and it has some collector value as well.

All

I think we all have our ideas!  For me, i will just apply and not throw anything in anyones face.  We all got to be nice to the officers working and enforcing laws they might or might not agree with.  Respect is shown more when respect is given.

I myself already have my "EDC" and is ready once the climate changes. Unfornately i choose to live in our "restrictive" state.  The SAD part is i might be now a PT resident of California.

Snip…

I wanted a LCR and ended up trading for S&W bodyguard in 38 spcl. With a friend. Traded a 9 mm Shield.
Double action safe and disappears into side pocket of cargo shorts. Looks like my wallet or cell phone.
If I’m gonna carry I feel more confident with a hammerless double action only revolver.
Trade off, only 5 shots though.
And I’m not very accurate with it at 25 yards.

My NV CCW instructor who's in his 60's carries a 38 snub nose in his front pocket. heads

I carry a VP9 AIWB when in a casino.  And when going to a friends house or staying off strip for most of the day, at the 4-5 oclock. Reason is I lean forward when gambling and if I carry at the 4-5 position, it prints a lot.

Plus when walking on the strip, often it was shoulder to shoulder (precovid), and it's easier to keep control with the VP9 in front of me, vs on my hip.

Each position has it's pro's and cons.  The size doesn't bother me because it's only for a week. So no big deal. But if I were to EDC a handgun daily, I would get something a little smaller.

If Young wins, I would also open carry the same way, but maybe a smaller gun still. I don't want someone getting nosey by seeing the gun on my hip for open carry.  This way only the person directly facing me can see that I'm armed.
