That’s what I said on Tuesday on the other thread.  No way he could be found guilty.

My friends a lawyer, said his favorite juror are retirees. They take the time to listen and look into the details.  Cause they no need work or worry about missing work and not getting paid. The downside is the limited experience on modern tech. So when COD was brought up. I highly doubt a 60 year old lady knows what that is.  Even explained is hard, need to actually show game footage and why people play.  Even then, she might not understand the why.

You mean how many more violent criminals are volunteering to find out?

Pretty broad brush you paint with.
I get pissed at every jury summons I get.
I'm retired.
My BIL is a cop.
I'm an engineer.
I hate drug laws.
I don't believe anything the government says.
I hate Lawyers.
I hate Democrats.

Why the fuck are you wasting my time?
Since you will never seat me on a jury!
Plus I'm pissed that my taxes paid for this BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course I would be a very impassionate Juror, but that is not what lawyers want.

This case should have never seen the inside of a courtroom.

The prosecution should have known this was a clear cut case of self defense.  Did they not depose their own star witness?  Was it really a surprise when he admitted Kyle only shot him AFTER he pointed his Glock at Kyle as he ran up on him?

They should have offered a plea deal on the under 18 with a firearm charge in exchange for dropping all the rest.  They could have gotten a conviction, Kyle would have likely gotten probation, and all this time, money and energy could have been spent more productively.

I don't know how much his defense team charged him, but it's not enough!  He was facing spending the rest of his life in prison.  Even with an incompetent prosecution, a different jury might have gone the other way if the defense was less prepared.

I read they'd raised over $2M for defense costs.  Think about that before you decide to carry a firearm in public without some kind of carry insurance.

Last time i got called for jury duty i made it to the box for selection.  The prosecutor asked me some logic flawed dumb question which i gave her an appropriate answer to.  Everyone had a good laugh at her including the judge.  I was the next person excused. :D

I was "in the barrel" twice before, and never had to show for selection.  Third time, I was an alternate and didn't have to participate other than go to court until the jury was given the case.  So I've never had the deliberation experience.

I can only imagine the kinds of discussions that went on with the jurors this week.

Imagine if EEF or OG were on that jury!  Same result, just would have taken another week or so...   :shake:

Before i moved here when i was about 20 or so I had served on a jury.  It was medical malpractice, took about 3 days.  Deliberation took about 5 min.  I feel bad for people who have to spend months doing that sort of thing. :stopjack:

I REALLY wanted to be on either the Deedy or Kealoha jury. Unfortunately, I did not get an invite.

First time I got called for jury duty I made it to the point where they decide who to keep and who to get rid of. I was asked to enter the box and sworn in. It was a murder case in which a firearm was used. I know I am missing some questioning. I can’t remember every detail.

Prosecuting attorney: Do you have any personal issues that would prevent you from being a jurist for as long as this case takes. I think he said like up to 3 months.
Me: Yes, I have a bad back and it is hard to sit for long periods.
Prosecuting attorney: How long can you sit at a time?
Me: About 4 hours.
Prosecuting attorney: We rarely have the jury sit for more than 4 hours at a time.
Prosecuting attorney: Are there any other personal issues that would prevent you from being a jurist for as long as this case takes?
Me: Three months is a long time to not have a paycheck.
Prosecuting attorney: Well, hopefully it won’t go that long.

After some other questions the defense attorney started to ask me questions.

Defense lawyer: Do you own any guns?
Me: Yes
Defense attorney: How many do you own?
Me: 14
Defense attorney: Are you a member of the NRA?
Me: Yes. Lifetime member.

He excused me and a few minutes later the prosecutor said he wanted to keep me and the defense attorney said he didn’t want me.

I have been called to jury duty 3 more times and each time I never made it out of the potential jurist pool.

Then the last time I was called for jury duty and I made it all the way to the actual jury trial. It was a domestic abuse case. There were 10 men and 2 women. We were only in court for 2-3 hours. And then we were sent to deliberate. We were a hung jury. Myself and another guy voted to convict the dude because he literally beat the shit out of his girlfriend. The others said the girlfriend dropped the charges but the prosecutor had the option to continue the prosecution. So because she dropped the charges they could not find him guilty. Which is exactly how the defense framed their case. But the prosecutor kept the case going because it was obvious he beat the shit out of her. I mean she went to the emergency room, had a swollen face for weeks. Told the officers he beat the shit out of her. She filed charges against him. Then later dropped them. And I was like how does her dropping the charges make him not guilty of beating the shit out of her? Anyway, it was frustrating because it was so obvious he was guilty. And he really did a number on her. But we were outnumbered so the outcome was a hung jury.

Really?  You wouldn't play Devil's Advocate to explore the opposing side's arguments, just to verify the side you chose has the best logical analysis and conclusions?

What happened to viewing an issue from all sides before making a final judgement?
