Do you have any clue how a protest is supposed to work lol? what should the truckers do? Stay on the side of the road, be quiet and hold signs? If they did that the government would just continue on doing whatever the fuck they wanted. The protest is supposed to be disruptive and uncomfortable to put pressure on both the government and people to actually do something. You upset at truckers for fighting for a cause you believe in? Make it make sense please.

There is no set rule about how protests are supposed to work. That would depend on the goal among other variable factors

However consider this, if you alienate large swaths of people, thereby creating enemies rather than allies, are you going to be as successful in furthering your cause?  How many Oregonians joined the cause when ANTIFA idiots blocked roads in Portland?

The question I pose is a strategic question, not so much an ideological one.

Now under their "terrorism act", donations to truckers can be ceased.

Then add in martial law.

Imagine if this type of protest happened in Germany in 1939.  1 has to wonder if the Holocaust would have happened.  Or in the US with regard to segregation of blacks and Jim Crow Laws

Like my example above, the media didn't complain about CHAZ or other like zones, burning of buildings, assaults on conservatives/trump supporters, etc.... In fact, the PD were told to stand down and even evacuate 1 of their police stations. So the fake news and liberals set precedent as to what is OK to do.

Do I support the truckers, yes. Do I agree with how they are doing it, I'm 50/50. Not everything is an all or nothing.

Imagine if HPD were to strike because of X reason.  And this X reason is a very good reason. Now people are left without someone to call to gather evidence.

Very fair questions and it helps illustrate something I wanted to touch on. Usually everyone protesting thinks their cause is just. Now if this type of protesting prevented the Holocaust nearly everyone would say it was worth it. But this logic is a double edged sword. If you go to the right crowd they might have thought the same protest would have been worth it if it got Trump blocked/removed from being president. So where do we draw the line on this tactic?

With the Truckers this thing has evolved and gotten so large, its hard to control a protest once this happens. So a few truckers laying on their horns can make it a problem for all the rest of the truckers. You are right, it doesn't have to be all or nothing, hence my comments that I support the truckers but I think the choice to honk horns was not a wise one for their cause.

Your logic is lacking.

How can anyone say the Holocaust was prevented by protests if the protests prevented the Holocaust?  The fact that the Holocaust didn't happen would diminish the protests' reason to happen.

I work in IT.  The better i do my job, the fewer problems occur.  When they do occur, remedial processes get us back up and running in almost no time.

So, the less downtime experienced, the more my value to the organization is questioned.  Why do we need him if the system is never down?

So, no Holocaust equates to "what good was the protest?"

As for a few truckers ruining to protest by laying down on their horns, how do you know it's not government offering to pay disrupters to make the rest of the protestors look (and sound) bad?

Happens in every protest involving government.  Ever read/see Les Miserables? It's an age-old tactic to infiltrate and spy on "rebels."  It's also common to behave in ways that discredit the rebels from within their ranks.

I've seen so many folks jump in because they want to "be involved" or "be woke".  I've also seen many just jump in because of an opportunity to flat out rebel, "rage against the machine" etc.  Nothing new.  Saw it many times back in WTO riots.  Folks coming down (insert street name) headed to Downtown Seattle for WTO demonstrations.  Folks jumping in just to be part of the lawlessness when $hit broke out.

Your logic is a double edged sword. The ANTIFA guys blocking the roads in Portland could make the same argument. Conservatives responded with suggestions of laws that allowed people to drive over the protesters but I don't see that idea coming up from conservatives now. Again, logical consistency, do we get to block roads or not because we feel our cause is just?

What happens if/when an ambulance needs to come through or a fire truck? Are these guys moving for emergency vehicles? If this goes on long enough I think people are going to start snapping and the truckers are going to lose support. Any movement this big needs to be concerned about the image of their movement.

The same with your conspiracy story, what if conservatives were dressing as ANTIFA and burning buildings to make ANTIFA/BLM look bad? These what-ifs rarely ever go anywhere.

Only to a certain point though.

At some point the reason for the protest is going to start to lose meaning.

If some house burns down and people die because fire trucks couldn't get to the fire, you think people are just going to say "so sad people died but the cause of not having to be vaccinated is just so I will keep supporting them"?

Hypothetical "evidence" is not evidence.

I can think of 1000 things the state does that could result in destroyed homes, car crashes, and a number of other tragedies in which people can die.

How about the horrible traffic situation here?  How many have died enroute to the ER because the ambulance was delayed both going the the sick/injured's place and to the hospital?  Anyone holding the state accountable for poor traffic management and road planning?

Anyone can play "what if", but that's not an actual argument when the rights of individuals are being trampled.

Now that trucks have been impounded and protesters/truckers have been arrested, who is going to deliver the
goods?

Every cause has a right side and a wrong side. One needs to learn that. Then it makes certain protest ok.

Like if roads blocked to protest what the nazis were doing to the jews.

The way the US people treated blacks in the jim crow days.

The way women were not allowed to vote.

Or if the roads were blocked going against all the above, i guess theyre right too. 2 rights make a right.
