Nice diatribe, professor. How about you answer the question now?
What sort of lifestyle do you plan on living in Hawaii where you won't be affected by crippling shortages, poverty and violence?
Obviously not the lifestyle everyone is living now and most likely horrible with shortages everywhere.
However, if and when the Hawaiian nation is restored, the new body politic will need to work with the new multipolar World in getting financial assistance to try and reestablish some sort of normalcy in the short-term, while reconstituting a stable long-term self-sufficient economic base. During this time, there will be violence, but with the general shortages, I would expect many residents will leave the islands for the continent. For those who stay, mostly Hawaiians, now is the chance to rebuild the nation.
For example, Hawaii's main economic driver tourism will never go away, but with the many US imperial bases gone; in their place, reviving Hawaii's all-year-round agricultural base is of immediate key importance for food security. In the long-run, which could take years, there is no reason to believe that Hawaii can't regain a decent economic steady-state with comparable industries suited for an island nation such as Singapore. Easier said than done, but possible if there are people committed to rebuilding the Hawaiian nation.
