Worst part is Will was laughing at the joke then looks like his wife sicced her dog on Rock.

Apparently it’s okay to attack comedians now as long as you are a multimillionaire and your feels are strong enough.

I heard about this on the radio this morning.  That uncensored video does tell more of the story though.  Reactions that I heard was that many in attendance wasn't sure if it was staged or was playing, but obvious from the video it wasn't playing. 

One common feedback I heard was that it's never ok to respond with violence.  That said, I do think folks who pop off like that need to be aware of consequences.  Personally, I think what Will Smith did was "aight".  Chris Rock was reported to not press charges. 

my takeaway is that Will Smith has a weak right hand.  if Chris Rock is standing there with his hands behind his back and sticking his chin out and Will Smith has a clear target unguarded, then Chris Rock should hit the floor. Chris Rock is a buck and a quarter soaking wet. but the slap didn't even phase him.  that's WEAK!!!

Sure.  I agree.  However, murder and a bitch slap is quite a bit different.  I was just saying actions have consequences, not that everything Will Smith did was justified. . .

Don’t need the victim to press charges with that many witnesses and on TV in front of millions.
The victim doesn’t press charges, the State or County does unless you need the victim’s testimony.

Used to be, an accepted defense for battery could be made if the actions were provoked through the use of "fighting words."

Provoking someone into using violence should be at the very least a "half measure" of guilt in an assault.

Courts have decided that whoever threw the first punch is at fault.  It gives a pass to extremely offensive personal insults.  Expressing an opinion is not the same as insulting someone to get laughs.

Smith is a big boy.  He's been a comedian and said some pretty sarcastic and offensive things.  He should know better than to get angry.  If he felt so offended and protective of his wife, he should have approached Rock in private where the confrontation would not be witnessed and recorded.

When asked later about the slight against his wife, Smith could just say he and Rock worked it out in private.  The press loves Hollywood drama, because that's what the fans want to see.  Smith could have come out looking good if he'd acted like an adult.  instead, he's now the highlight of the Oscars, and not in a positive light.

The only thing that's helping him now is the super-low number of people who still bother to watch these award shows.

But right now the government is trying to make free speech a crime, the past year has couple years were one giant psyop, and I could see this being used as a justification for more violence against people with undesirable political views.

Hollywood is the public relations wing of the military industrial complex and everyone at that event is a professional actor at the top of their game.

The fact that Will Smith was not escorted out of the building speaks volumes.

I thought Chris Rock demonstrated extraordinary coolness and Will Smith is an ass.  Based on what I saw, I would give Cris a CCW permit, but would deny Will.

I am leaning that way too.  staged slap. no security as he steps on the stage, during the slap, and after. and Chris Rock really sold the slap by moving his whole body with the slap, thereby taking some of the force out of it.  and then he goes right into the stance of his hands behind his back again, and just shrugs it off.
and in the video towards the end when Will Smith is almost off camera, looks like he starts to smile a little bit.  and the after party Will is partying up with everyone else as if nothing happened

Hypocrites. All these elites have all the money to dictate what is right and wrong. From Will Smith's violence filled Bad Boy franchise with lots of gun play to Jada's weird Red Table talk about how to raise your family. Heck Alec Baldwin is the only person I know that shot someone and didn't get arrested.

He thought it was OK to joke about WS's wife's medical condition.
An insult to another mans wife more than a joke.

    If your wife had cancer and losing her hair, would a bald joke directed at her still be funny ?

   Would saying there's a beached whale on the sand when your wife has a pituitary gland problem and is sunbathing be funny ?

     Personally, I think it would have been better to go on stage, gesture CR to the wings and slap his ass there just to be "considerate".

Imagine if some white dude slapped a black dude like that. Or worse, slapped a black woman.
