You obviously haven't been in jail much. It sucks!
Although I will say New Orleans Parish prison, had good beans, rice and franks.
My charges were all dropped, I just came across cops with attitudes.
New Orleans cop with an attitude who'd have guessed.
Long-ish story ... short punchline.
My brother got married while he was between jobs. He paid for the tux rental, church and reception expenses (reception at his rented house) using what little money he had in savings, but wound up writing checks he couldn't cover.
The judge gave him 6 months to pay something like $350 plus court costs. He wound up getting laid off from the next job he had and didn't have another lined up, so no way to cough up the money he was ordered to pay. Of course, asking friends and family never occurred to him I guess. In fact, I was in his car during college break, and I saw the papers on his console. When I asked what that was about, he told me he had it handled.
That was Spring Break. When I came home for Summer Break, my brother had been arrested for criminal contempt of court. He'd been locked up in the Mecklenburg County jail in Charlotte for a little less than a week, but my mother didn't have the cash to get him out for a few days. We drove up on that Friday, and my mom had the amount my brother called and told her to bring. He didn't include court costs for having been arrested, so she was almost $100 short, which I happened to have on me since I needed traveling money to go home. He got really lucky I was there.
The finale is he told my mother later that he's never going back to jail. It was the most uncomfortable, miserable and humiliating time of his life. For the first day, he had to sit in a cell wearing nothing but his undershorts. I can't imagine why unless he peed himself when the Sheriff Deputies showed up!

So, yeah. Jail isn't something you look forward to unless you're homeless, need medical attention and/or haven't eaten a meal in over a week.
