https://www.foxnews.com/politics/los-angeles-democratic-mayoral-candidate-karen-bass-says-home-burglarized-two-guns-stolen

"Last night, I came home and discovered that my house had been broken into and burglarized," the Bass campaign said in a statement. "LAPD was called, and I appreciate their assistance. At this time, it appears that only two firearms, despite being safely and securely stored, were stolen. Cash, electronics and other valuables were not. It's unnerving and, unfortunately, it's something that far too many Angelenos have faced."

Bass co-sponsored Resolution on Gun Violence

Congressional Summary:
Urges Congress to enact legislation based on the President's recommendations to reduce gun violence
Urges state legislatures to reject proposed stand-your-ground legislation
Urges states to repeal enacted stand-your-ground laws.
    Condemns gun violence
Condemns relevant parties for their roles in obstructing the ability of communities to be safe from gun violence and in proposing stand-your-ground legislation and similar legislation that compromises public safety and the integrity of the prosecutorial system, and
Condemns all efforts to weaken gun laws and proposals that stand in the way of comprehensive gun law reform.

I question her use of the phrase "safely and securely stored."

Obviously, the firearms were not securely stored, or they would not have been so easily stolen.  I imagine she fell for the marketing hype around certain quick access gun boxes that are super easy for a knowledgable or determined thief to open -- or walk away with the whole thing to work on opening later.

Why not specify what she was storing her firearms in?  What constitutes "safely and securely?"  Sounds like something she added to avoid having charges against her for failing to properly store her guns in accordance with CA law -- which if you read that law describes cabinets and lock boxes "approved" by the state.  We all know how government standards are.

I wonder what "common sense gun laws" she's campaigning on would have prevented this theft?  And how does pushing for stronger gun laws to impede lawful gun buyers in any way prevent these kinds of thefts?

Maybe this theft should be viewed in the light of increased crime around the country.  I'd be replacing these guns in a hurry should the need arise to rely upon them to defend my life from the next burglar/home invader.  Now that they stole your guns, they might think you're unprotected and worth a return visit?

Will DeSantis still be laughing when he is faced with 50 counts of kidnapping. ?

Multiple members of the group flown to Martha’s Vineyard alleged that a recruiter “induced” them to accept an offer of transportation. This was done under false claims that they would be brought to Boston and given expedited access to work authorization, Newsom wrote.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, took credit for sending the planes as part of the state’s relocation program “to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations,” a representative from his office told Fox News.

I would be mad that they didn't let me stay at Martha's Vineyard but instead took me to a crappy military base. DeSantis just upgraded their room and board from Kapolei Hampton to the Halekulani. But some people who were already at the Halekulani were mad and booted them to a Pacific Marina Inn.
Bottom line. They came into our country ILLEGALLY. They have no respect for our laws. What if these people showed up at another country? People that are for open borders don't live in States like Texas. They are detached from reality. So now we want to afford them the protection of our laws and charge DeSantis with kidnapping illegal aliens? I did not see anyone go against their will. So what is the difference between what DeSantis did and the Border Patrol arresting them and deporting them back to where they came from? They probably would resist going back - but when they were offered a ride to one of the most exclusive communities in the USA they probably jumped on that bus.
If people like you are so welcoming for illegals to enter our country would you spare them one of your rooms at your house? Feed and clothe them? Make sure they get a job etc.

It's funny how loud the Democrats cry when the same thing they do to EVERYONE ELSE is done to THEM!

It's easy to name your location a "Sanctuary City," until the massive number of people illegally entering the country show up there.

Why are towns which never declared sanctuary for illegals forced to provide lodging and services for illegals while the sanctuary cities are not?

1.35 Million illegals under Biden.  Let that sink in.

1.35 million new illegal immigrants settled
in U.S. under Biden, study shows

Quote
The U.S. has added more than 2 million immigrants to its population since President Biden took
office in 2021, the vast majority of them here illegally, according to a new report Wednesday that
says most of the newcomers are arriving illegally.

The surge is so overwhelming that it’s pushed up the projected point at which the U.S. will have
its largest-ever share of immigrants, according to the Center for Immigration Studies.

At the current pace of growth, 14.9% of residents will be immigrants as of sometime next year,
topping the record set around the turn of the 20th century. That’s half a decade earlier than the
Census Bureau’s last calculation, said Steven A. Camarota, the center’s director of research and
the lead author of the new report.

THE FEDS can't keep sending out invitations and allowing illegals into the country, then expecting the STATES to foot the bill.

You might need to look up the definition for yourself 18 U.S. Code § 1201 - Kidnapping.

These people are currently legally present in the United States. They have not committed any crime.. they have a right for the court to hear their case to remain in the United States.

DeSantis does not respect our laws. He has deceived, defrauded, and enticed these people through his lies to travel thousands of miles away and many may actually miss court dates because of the lies they were told. This is a crime.

The Venezuelan refugees are not the criminals. DeSantis and those that support his crimes don't support justice. DeSantis should pay for his crime.

no they are not legal

no they are not legal

True.

The CRIME they committed is "improper entry into the US."

Quote
8 U.S. Code § 1325 - Improper entry by alien

Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than
as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration
officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading
representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such
offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent
commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1325

So, even those who try to use the magic phrase "Asylum" are guilty of improper entry because they are attempting to gain entry by willing using false or misleading representations/concealment of material facts.  Unless their country of origin is engaged in war and displacing their residents as refugees, it's unlikely using their financial situation constitutes a need for asylum.

The only people who want open borders are slave traders, narco terrorists, giant corporations who want to destroy the working class by driving down wages, and clueless liberals who believe whatever the media tells them to believe.

If I was Abbot, Ducey, and Desantis I would do the same thing.

If the biden administration won't do anything to help the border states deal with the immigrant situation, then we'll send these people to your areas to force you to f*ckn wake up.

Easy to talk yeah, sh*t heads?  Now you gonna walk the walk.  Whether you like it or not.  Deal with it.

You are calling them guilty before they have had due process? Pot meet Kettle. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? I see you agree with the laws only if they suit your agenda.

At least our government allows them to apply for healthcare

Osama bin Laden and several other terrorist leaders were not tried for their crimes against the U.S. but they did meet their fates.
