what if you dont make it inside before it closes bc you are waiting for hours in line bc line is really long.
and you cant register your gun withing the alotted time frame.
will HPD let you extend those days bc of the unusual wait time?
or will we have to go through the process all over again.

for instance, a handgun you have 2 days to register from the time you pick it up.
what if the line is so ridiculously long and you just cant register it in time bc of that.
my work is such that it is next to impossible to take a day off on short notice.

Shit you not...  Just drove by and the line is down the stairs on the Diamond Head of the lobby and around the corner to the 3rd tree on Hale Makai Street (that little street that runs perpendicular to S. Beretania).  Good luck, bruddahs!!

My friend who standing in that line sent me some pics.  At first I couldn't figure where they were standing because there was no roof overhead and I then noticed they were on the sidewalk on the sidestreet!!

When I was standing in line this is exaclty what was happening and had happened to many there.

On that day the Sgt stated he would waive the days to register due to mitigating circumstances.  As far as getting bumped up to the front of the line because you waited before, that is not happening.  One good thing HPD is doing is coming out periodically to ask if people are there to pick up permits only, in those cases you give them your ID and they bring out your permits...............then you gotta wait to register.............pretty brutal.

Talked to a guy picking up a rifle at OGC.  He said he went to apply for his permit to acquire for a handgun yesterday.  He was there at 5am and he was the seventh guy in line.  :shake: I can just imagine what the line will be like next Monday.

Getting there at 5 am is still a 3-4 hour wait.   Holy crap.  I still have to register my hand gun in about 3 weeks.

Since it seems like the local gun shops aren't restocking, maybe they'll run out of guns to register except for a few private sales and out of state transfers and such.   :D

Is the registration process taking longer behind the window? When I registered my firearms, I think I only waited about 5 min. for each one.

Once you get to the counter the registration time is still the same.  Or at least it was when I went on Wednesday.   Its getting in the door and to the counter that takes forever.

I don't think that the law allows for such extensions legally.  Therefore, You and They are in non-compliance with the law as written.

But, IANAL, so what do I know...

In order to facilitate compliance with the law they ought to have the dept open 24-7 to ensure everyone can comply.  Then see how fast the wheels get turning.

However, such suggestion may have many undesirable consequences.  :(
