In at 2pm out 2:30pm!  They culled the line down by asking who was there just to pick up paperwork.  :shaka:

I don't want it like before.   We need numbers,  there is strength in numbers.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

FYI: I drove by HPD at 8:10 a.m. today. The line was to the metal detectors in the lobby.

Arrived 3pm out at 4:30pm.  Was close but stuck it out!  Those guys are doing a great job behind the counter with this absolute crush of new firearms purchases.

I walked in around 3:18pm. A few people in front of me and waited a few minutes. Guy comes out from the fingerprinting room and says the guy in front of me was the last customer and "sign on door says closed". WTF? Not even packed. I can get out the door before 4pm and close time is 4:30pm.

Hey, I was there in line at 2:30 and I got out at 3:30--if I knew who you were I would have said hello.  WTF?Shane--man, I feel you pain!  That's just a drag that they wouldn't let you register (or whatever), especially since the line wasn't too long.

Bummer!

heh heh - I was the guy w/red backpack towards back of line talking to everyone about joining the HRA/NRA & SB219 etc.   Handed out a membership form to new shotgun guy, we were the last 2 admitted into the reg. room!   Eh you remember the little old Japanese guy with a cane that went up to the other window with a briefcase - I was the guy that held the door open for him. I think he was homeless because whew pilau smell after that!

I was there too (the little old Japanese guy with the briefcase and the cane). Appreciate the help opening the door but I'm not homeless I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance switching to Geico.

Drove by at 1:00 p.m. and there was no line outside the building.  It looked fairly empty from the street.

Report from the Big Island:

Hilo has been pretty busy (but the waits were in the 2 hour range at worst, and are now down to an hour or less).  I hear that Kona is a pain, but that's in part because of the limited hours.  I did some paperwork in Pahoa yesterday and today, and there was NO LINE.  Actually, there wasn't any one else there at all today, and yesterday, the two guys in the waiting room were waiting for something other than gun paperwork.  The word about Pahoa doing firearms paperwork hasn't apparently gotten out yet; it's not that far a drive from Hilo, and way faster than waiting in line.....

Passed by there just before 6 am and it was the least amount of people I've seen since this craze started.  I would estimate about 10 waiting in line.

From the reports, it seems like after 2 pm seems to be a good time.  I used to like going first thing, but that's probably not a good idea for a while.

Out to the metal detector as of 0900. Maybe we should submit a petition to get them to put more guys on duty at the counter there... ^_^
