Arrived and walked in the door at. 2.58.  Locked 2 min later. 10 or 12 ahead of me.

Follow up:

About 3.30 the officers came out for those of us who were waiting to apply for permits.  He took our receipts went back and came back with all the paperwork for us to fill out.   Line was completely cleared and finished by 3.50.

This was my biggest pet peeve! Every person in line can do the 10 minutes of paperwork while standing in line.  Just hand it in at the end and get the stamps/signatures/etc. Ridiculous!!!

FYI - I heard the officer tell 2 people that they need to keep track of the forms they hand out so it's only handed out to people who get to the window....

try and ask them why they need to track the papers being handed out..... everyone would love to here the answer....

It's obvious they don't want to speed things up - unless it's to beat the quitting time clock.

It's a great idea to pass out the paperwork in advance. Applicants can bring their own clipboards and black pens.

But, they don't want to because they don't really want to make it any easier for the applicants. Again, why make it easier to get a gun when they don't really approve of armed citizens?

Or, is it a trust issue in that it makes it easier for people to write so-so info on the forms? If so, the officers passing out the paperwork can remind people that giving false information is a crime.

people, just just stop registering. It's not going to solve any crime, only let them know what you own.

That's exactly what everyone does at the DMV, grab a form and fill it out in line.  Hpd should do the same. Can't think of any reason they need to keep track of handing out forms.

Reminds me of getting a state id. People wait all day for this. Long lines. Only 2 lanes open. They turn people away at 3 cause of the backlog. Then as the day is about to end got 4 people working, short wait times, everyone acting like they in a hurry to go home.

The only reason I can imagine is that the form is also the permit and the permit number is pre-printed

Not if it was brought in prior to 94'..

I was being sarcastic by the way.
And it still makes no sense for registration, all it lets them know is who has what.
