That's according to a study by the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, which found the biggest reason people are moving away is the cost of housing and taxes, as well as government regulations.

"Hopefully??"  This is the whole reason Democrats can't run a city, state or country.  They hope their policies and programs have some benefit for somebody, but there's no plan to actually accomplish anything of value short of wasting more of your money on their half-witted programs.

I don't think they can even begin to list "the root cause of society's biggest problems," just like Kamala Harris has yet to address the 'root causes' of mass illegal immigration into the US from Central and South America.

Root causes?  If they were honest, they'd start with their own Liberal, Socialist, Left-Wing-Nut policies and laws.  Government causes more problems than they fix, and Democrats never solve a single problem they promise to solve.

I think they know what the root cause is, but they can't self-terminate -- it's against their programming.

To do any analysis, you have to set some parameters, like timeframe, growth vs. decline rates, types of taxes (excise, general fund, tax on income, property tax, etc.), and so on.  Then you have to factor in the pandemic emergency funds received.  Much of that assistance was a short-term infusion of cash, similar to the Obama era "stimulus" spending that produced no "shovel ready jobs" -- the opposite of what was promised.

All the data is public record.  The trick is to define what metrics you're looking to analyze.

Government spends billions to track metrics, because that's how they justify their own existence.  When the numbers are bad, they use percentages and comparisons with other years to create a positive narrative, like creating a massive job loss over 2 years but bragging about how many jobs have been "created" the last 3 months, even though that number is a tiny fraction of the jobs lost and probably a result of market demand and economic corrections vs. gov't policy.
