Miguel's father, Miguel Boswell Agoo, says he had no idea his son had a gun and doesn't know how and where he got it. He, along with many others in the community, are pushing for stricter gun laws to put an end to gun violence.

Agoo says change needs to be made so no other family has to suffer like his family.

"As a parent, they hide the guns from the parents and to me the question is, how can these guys, any part of this island, distribute guns? Who is distributing these guns to them? Is the law enforcement doing their job? Is the government legislation hard on them to get these guys off street? Is the punishment and consequence strong enough for these kids to learn a lesson?" Agoo asked.

Agoo and others in the community are calling on Gov. Josh Green to create change in our community to prevent gun violence from taking another life.

We should call on our lawmakers to create a more, ultra, super-sensitive places bill along with no crime zones along Makaha. How about curfews?

Has Anyone heard if ATF/HPD Traced the origin of the two handguns yet?  Stolen? Etc.  It's sad that an individual under 21 who CANNOT Legally own a handgun used one to commit this crime.  Both "kids" had Guns!  Wow! why don't we have "curfews"?  Why don't responsible parents allows Children under the age of 18 "run around" after 10:00pm on a weeknight?  Do objects such as gun commit acts of Violence?  Again within the State of Hawaii, we have some the "toughest" gun laws.  Look at other States:  Illinois, California, etc.  Did "TOUGH" laws, stop GUN VIOLENCE?  NO! ..The Real question that needs to be asked was WHY did these Teens feel they needs a gun?

Don't restrict the LEGAL Gun Owners!  Be a better parent first!

It's from the fear of all these people now able to conceal carry in public.  Oh, the horror!   :shake:

Well, it will be when the licenses eventually get issued.   Some are just getting a head start so they make the headlines. No sense in waiting until their fear becomes reality.  :geekdanc:

My favorite character in this tragedy is the dad.
I think he learned how to talk after getting to know so MANY lawyers from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

spidey-sense is telling me zero credibility.

The Dad is taking the high road here so he doesn't come across as a deadbeat do-do daddy which he is.

My opinion of course.

Alright guys. Don't go carrying any guns on the Westside. Waipahu to Makaha is now an ultra sensitive gun free zone. Knives and clubs are ok.

They did. it's called liberalism. Or now Progressivism
If all goes according to planned , it should take care of itself. Making sure you kill the unborn, and sterilize the kids with gender reassignment surgery, then remove hope, and encourage physician assisted suicide, problem should work itself out in 1 generation.

P.S. warning label comment, like it :)

That's a tough one. Nobody wants to spread rumors about dead kids, but recently we've had way too many dead degenerates held up as saints and used as an excuse to strip our rights away.

Miguel Boswell, Sr. — whose 17-year-old son Miguel, Jr. was shot and killed in Makaha last Sunday, May 21 — pleaded for action from the town hall participants to curb gun violence.

“I guess he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Kids will be kids, but nobody expects a kid to be playing around with a gun. I want to convey to the news that it’s better to have one person feel like they are broken, hurt, and destroyed, than a whole state.” Boswells said.
    Miguel Boswell, Sr.

Miguel Sr. appealed for stricter laws against ghost guns and measures to keep guns out of children’s hands.

This is why government is so big in Hawaii. When we fail as citizens we ask the govt to intervene. Then we lose more freedom and rights.

Did the subject of parental responsibility come up at all?  What was his high schooler doing out getting into whatever he was up to after midnight?

I'm pretty sure my kids never left the house after midnight without my wife and me knowing.  If they did, they'd be driven anywhere they needed to go for a few months so we know where they are, who they are with, and what they are doing.

Major Mike Lambert of hpd said at the meeting "if you think you need a gun, then you not rugged."
By his own words, he himself is not rugged bc he needs a gun himself
I spoke with another officer that I know about citizens being legally armed and they said the same thing
But, to be fair not all cops feel that way. another officer I know a lot better has nothing against being legally armed
