Palms is doing what no other casino has done yet. $5 Blackjack and Craps, at least 1 table of each open 24/7. They figured out the people coming for th.eir buffet aren't playing $15 tables. Eat and leave.
I hope downtown goes back to $5 tables. I mean, Downtown Grand has a $1 BJ table, but it's only 1 table and often full. But I doubt they will as they've found their new clientel. The cheap, middle income Vegas tourist. They don't want to eat at above average causal eats, but want cheap, shitty food.
Main Streets Buffet is back daily. It's been weekends only since they reopened. Def not worth the price as the quality looks like it went down since precovid. It's the only buffet downtown now.
$5 tables Downtown would be nice. But I will settle for $10. $15 is too much for Downtown gamblers in my opinion.
Don't laugh but the Cal used to have a mini-breakfast buffet daily at the Market St. Cafe before covid. It was really cheap, forget what the price was but the items were minimal, just basic eggs, bacon, canned fruit, etc. and oatmeal upon request.
I really liked this mini set-up since I just wanted bacon, eggs, toast and coffee real quick before heading out for the day. My wife loved the oatmeal upon request with canned prunes, lol!
This past trip we ventured out of our usual dining routine, partly because at many places options were sparse and their operating hours were limited.
In a way it was a good thing because we checked out Binions Cafe, Four Queen's Magnolias Cafe, and even ventured out to El Cortez to eat at Siegal's 1941 restaurant for their famous Prime Rib. We found out they all had some pretty good stuff to offer at reasonable prices.
I'm an old fut and just like playing craps and eating at regular places so the Strip nowadays holds no interest for me.
What I find interesting is that on YouBoob there is a lot of video content of how people are getting disgusted with the Strip and end up going to Local casinos or Downtown.
