To me the bill is like the people who introduced it:  retarded.

My primary physician has been wearing a face shield and mask ever since the mandates.  Because of my health condition I visit her 2 times a year.

I don't know how she looks like anymore.  I forget.  I know she's a hottie. ;D  Even with the face shield on and a mask she still looks good.

If not a hottie at least a warmie.

With the exceptions, I wonder if this impacts anything in the Constitution?

Are you being serious?

100% serious.

Show me where an exception to the law for one face covering doesn't negate the entire purpose of the law.

Ban all, or ban none.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Hoodie and surgical mask is just as covering one ID as a ski mask and bac.

I mean, the bill could have been written as "while commiting a crime".

(f)   While lawfully engaged in activities protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

so just wear ski mask anyway and say you are protesting the ban on wearing ski masks.

We have seen HPD follow orders and prohibit free speech during covid. Then arrest people for the opposite, not wearing a mask. I'm sure they will disregard the constitution like usual.

I decided to read the bill

"§711-     Concealed identity; ski mask or balaclava; public places; prohibited.  (1)  It shall be unlawful for any person to wear a ski mask or balaclava in a public place or on any mode of public transportation.

Except
    (f)   While lawfully engaged in activities protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

Are they so stupid they don't realize what a loophole they put in their bill? So you are allowed to wear a ski mask while engaging in free speech activities. If any cop ever stopped you for wearing a ski mask all you would have to do is explain that you are wearing a ski mask to protest ski masks being illegal.

I thought there was already a law on the book about wearing masks while committing a crime but I couldn't find it yet.

Edit: Found it but it is city law not state law

https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/honolulu/latest/honolulu/0-0-0-41278
§ 41-24.2 Wearing of masks or disguises prohibited.
No person shall wear any mask, false whiskers, or any personal disguise (whether complete or partial) for the purpose of:
(1)   Evading or escaping discovery, recognition, or identification in the commission of any criminal offense; or
(2)   Concealment, flight, or escape, when the person has been charged with, arrested for, or convicted of, any criminal offense.
(1990 Code, Ch. 40, Art. 22, § 40-22.2) (Added by Ord. 01-19)
§ 41-24.3 Penalty.
Any person violating this article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be subject to a fine of up to $1,000, up to 30 days of imprisonment, or both.
(1990 Code, Ch. 40, Art. 22, § 40-22.3) (Added by Ord. 01-19)

You would think our legislators have better things to do.

They definitely have more important things to think about than punks in masks.

Read my above about HPD violating any "loophole".  Granted the person wasn't arrested for also commiting a crime. AKA walking down the street with a bac on and gets stopped by HPD and they say 1A.

They definitely have more important things to think about than punks in masks.

I think they know.  But they're re-electability and status amongst their peers are more important.

Therefore we are presented with retarded bills like these just to show the clueless people who've bought into their BS think they are doing something.

Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

So why not any other Amendment of the Constitution of the United States?

They are trying to make it sound like they still care about our rights.

My guess is they know something crazy is about to go down and want the ability to round people up with facial recognition software
Pretending to be offended does not make you a good person.
