I had my kid's birthday at Mililani rec center one year.
It was great. I'm still trying to get a head count.
A lot of people have kicked the bucket.
The last big gathering we had was at a funeral.
It would be nice to have a reunion NOT at a funeral.

not really a joke though
i've seen a BUNCH of banners advertising class reunions outside of schools -- the reunion being held in Vegas.
I thought that was weird at first, since you normally try to hold them in the location where the school exists.
Later, I realized:
- People here love going to Vegas
- The Vacations Hawaii package cost at that time wasn't very expensive compared to other venues
- Places like The Cal cater to Hawaii groups like that, offering banquet rooms, buffet specials, etc.
- The number of people going to reunions after 30+ years does diminish
- Family members get to go, too
- Lots more to do and enjoy than just listening to top hits from your graduating year played by a DJ
I can list more, but you get the idea. Rolling up a vacation with a reunion at a place like Vegas made even more sense when I found out how much venues around Waikiki cost!
