Looking for a venue
« on: January 30, 2024, 04:55:25 AM »
I'm seeking suggestions for a venue to have something like a small reunion.
It's not gun related. Maybe 100 people but that's just a guess.
I really liked Big City Pearlridge but the lanai only holds 60 people.
Someone suggested St. Louis Clubhouse.

Make a suggestion.

Were you planning on serving, selling or allowing attendees to bring 'adult beverages'?

if not, Mililani Town Association rents out 4 rec centers.  Capacity ranges from 130 -350.

If your guests bring kids, you could also add the pool for a small additional fee -- something to keep the young ones occupied while the adults do whatever.

If interested, here are the details/rules:

You need to make reservations at least 30 days in advance.  Any MTA resident can reserve a rec center.

I had my kid's birthday at Mililani rec center one year.
It was great. I'm still trying to get a head count.

A lot of people have kicked the bucket.
The last big gathering we had was at a funeral.
It would be nice to have a reunion NOT at a funeral.
not really a joke though

Okinawa Cultural Center. Haven’t been there in years, but attended grad parties, 1st birthday, etc. Also for work conferences. The space is modular, but largest is well over 100.

I remember my cousin telling me at my dad's funeral:  "Isn't it sad that the only time our family sees each other is when one of us dies......." :(

Dot's in Wahiawa has a Banquet Hall.  It's a bit dated but would accommodate what you are looking for.  And Marian's Catering is next to the Hall with decent food offerings.  It has a stage with audio and visual capabilities.  And since Dot's the restaurant is permanently closed the parking lot should be adequate for your needs.

edited to add:  I think the venue's name changed.  It's called Central Oahu Events Center.  Ph: 808-627-5451

i've seen a BUNCH of banners advertising class reunions outside of schools -- the reunion being held in Vegas.

I thought that was weird at first, since you normally try to hold them in the location where the school exists.

Later, I realized:

-  People here love going to Vegas
-  The Vacations Hawaii package cost at that time wasn't very expensive compared to other venues
-  Places like The Cal cater to Hawaii groups like that, offering banquet rooms, buffet specials, etc.
-  The number of people going to reunions after 30+ years does diminish
-  Family members get to go, too
-  Lots more to do and enjoy than just listening to top hits from your graduating year played by a DJ

I can list more, but you get the idea.  Rolling up a vacation with a reunion at a place like Vegas made even more sense when I found out how much venues around Waikiki cost!   :shake:
