Kauai was smooth. I coulda made it easier had I printed and filled the app out at home; didn't know that was possible. Just about one month maybe a few days less to get LTC approval. Could be that load is lighter here on Kauai maybe.

My Maui renewal took 10 weeks when I did it at the end of 2023.  I've heard it's normally a month but I guess they were busy with the last minute rush.

MPD will also mail the CCW license if provided with a certified mail stamped envelope.

I am on Maui and trying to determine what they will want to mail my card to me. Do i take a self addressed stamped
Envelope with my application?  Or pay 5$ more?  Or a box of krispy cremes?  Thanks for the help on this

I am stilling waiting after the 3 month period.

There are at least 3 other people that I know of tracking their applications.

I submitted mine on June 12

My buddies are on June 3 and 4th with no success.

I did just hear that someone that submitted their app a few weeks after all of our submissions just got their letter.

Again, they do not go in sequence(FIFO)

I will reply when I get my letter so the timelines are documented for someone asking in the future.

I wonder where the bottleneck(s) in the approval process lay.

Is it the filing process?

Probably the background check procedures.

And probably whenever Logan feels like going through the applications.

I went there yesterday. officer looks at every page and makes sure it's filled out correctly. I also have my clearance letter from the psychologist, so there's no need to wait for a reply from kaiser. even if you wait for that, they reply in less than 2 weeks.
background check doesn't take long
so the bottle neck has to be Logan. if he is even signing it himself or they just stamp his signature
when it comes down to it, it doesn't take 3-4 months to get this shit done. it's just complete bullshit  :grrr:

they process your PTA in 2 weeks
there is only a few more pages to apply for CCW
why does it take 3-4 months to process your CCW application?  don't make no sense other than they just like make us wait a long time. that's the only reason I can see

It's cause they don't want to issue CCW's.  HI showed their hand that a background check can be done by 2 weeks.

Yep.  And the lawmakers at the Capitol and the Mayor's office got HPD's back.

If on Oahu,

I've been waiting almost 3 months.  The wait time word on the street is about 3 months.  At 4 months, due to the new law passing, you're automatically denied and need to start from zero again, which includes paying another $150 and retaking the shooting qualification (90 days valid for).

If you're approved, you get a certified letter in the mail telling you, and you need to go back to HPD to take your picture and have your CCW card issued on the spot.
FYI - after 4 months if you’re not approved or denied your application is automatically voided and yes you have to reapply $150 and retake shooting qualifications because it has to be done within 90 days of application. If you’re denied, that’s a whole different process. My approval letter came right around 3 months via regular mail, not certified. I asked HPD about them taking more than 4 months to approve or deny applications, at the time they said none had gone beyond 4 months and that I should get notified in plenty of time before then. I guess one month to spare is considered plenty of time, lol.  Also you have to provide your own passport sized photo for your license if approved.

The bottleneck is them sitting on the app doing nothimg with it for months.

It's intentional. There's no real inefficiency to correct.

Finally got mine. Just wanted to document for anyone ever looking for this info.

110 days. Wife got hers on 108.

What is still unclear is the registered lower process. I was told different things

I added abother gun yesterday. Officer accepted my application. He said I should've told the guy at the register counter to add "17" to the registration.

I did tell the guy at the counter if he could add "17" and he said no, cause it isn't a Glock 17 slide. Even though I had a complete Agency Arms Slide.

Such absolute bullshit.

The officer said he would modify my registration but since there was no supervisor on site he couldn't do that

My current card was a lower that I had to go back to register as a complete so I did that the same day. Went back to the permit side and they still said it still would be a problem and the officer at the permit side just modified my registration anyways.

Nothing is consistent and dependent on who you get, the process changes.

He then said it'll be fine. So let's wait and see what happens!!!!!

Letter received at 110 days post application.  If based on letter date, 105 days.

Seems like 105-110 is the "target", I mean average.

Sorry, a little off topic.  For those with an expired CCW, did you have to return your expired card to HPD?  If so, how long after it expired did you have to return it?  What happens if you don't return it?

Turned mine in when I reapplied, about 50 days after expiration.

My experience was about the same.

I think very few got it at 90 days.  100+
