1911's under $800
« on: December 29, 2012, 10:45:34 PM »
I gave up looking for any AK's or AR's, I'm hoping the ban doesn't happen for a while and within that time I'm hoping the hype dies down and they can be affordable and available again. Probably not likely for either but what ever

I'll just go and buy my first 1911.
What are some good 1911's to buy locally at/under $800? I've seen OGC has a pretty good selection but is there any other shops here on Oahu that are worth looking at too?

From what I've gathered so far RIA or Springfield Armory (RO or Operator), or even a used Colt? I ask again here since the prices differ from our mainland friends.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I seen X-ring received a collection of AKs....maybe you should check them out for your AK needs. The 1911s will/should continue to be available.

Have you checked out this one for sale?
I'd like to get a 1911 too at some point, but I'm weary of paying for the ammo.

I saw that too but I'm sure they've pretty much all been or quickly about to be spoken for. I guess you could say I've given it all up in that department, thanks though.

Them Ruger SR1911's are lovely, I wonder if anyone has them locally.

Are all 1911's (same size of course-fullsize .45acp) pretty much the same as far as upgrades go?

There was a Bushmaster 5.56 AR at Sports Auth. Kapolei at about 7pm last night for $1099.  There was a guy on the phone that was telling his wife to bring his permit and to hurry up.  I'm guessing that's what he wanted to hurry up and buy.  I was thinking of picking it up as I keep my permit in my wallet, but I'm planning on building something different.
Anyway,
AR's are obviously still out there.......
chitty chitty bang bang.......

you mean a bushmaster ar with flash supressor?
one that's capable of being modified to fire 6 rounds per second?
and empty a hundred round magazine in less than a minute?
why would sports authoritah sell such a dangerous assault weapon?
it serves no hunting purpose!

just in case you cannot tell, i'm kidding, of course

Picked up a Range Officer from Gunbroker earlier this year for around $750 excluding FFL fee and shipping, only because there were none on the island.  Awesome gun!  Fit is like a TRP but without the bells and whistles like front serrations, night sights, front strap checkering, etc.

OK, $800 for a good quality 1911 is not going to happen unless you are talking used...........at least if you are talking the Springfields or Colts.

I think you should up your budget to $1,200, then you are talking some really good (new) choices.  No Taurus-es please.

No the 1911's can vary greatly and a lot of the time you are talking some smithing to get parts to fit.  IMHO pay once to get the 1911 the way you want it.  This isn't like an AR15 where it's easy to put parts on and swap things out.
