My idea:  start by removing the ability to blindly vote for all candidates in a party.

Best idea:  give a short video or written training list of all the candidates followed by an easy multiple choice test of 15-25 questions.

Basically force voters to know who is running in all races for all political parties and what their government experience is.  No slogans or characterizations -- just facts relevant to the job they are campaigning for.

You can get 2 questions wrong.  Get 3 or more wrong, you have to re-watch or re-read the candidate info again and retake the test until you pass.

If you're not able to answer a few questions that you just read on each candidate, then how can anyone say you're informed enough to cast a ballot?

Just one option.

Voting is a right.  Regardless.  Unless you are a criminal or non citizen.

I know of a few Trump voters who are clueless.

I know the democrats and their leader (Chuck Shumer) killed a bill requiring people to show proof of citizenship before voting.

Now why da hell would they want to do that.......

That and biden's DOJ suing the governor of Virginia to stop him from eliminating the illegal voters currently on their voting rolls database.

Now why da hell would they want to do that......

Plain and simple criminal.  And corrupt.

Can you post examples on why they're clueless?

If the majority is legitimate, that is not good enough.  Some members of congress won by 22 votes.

Ask Mike Johnson.  He knows and was trying to let America know before Margaret Brennan and CBS edited that part out.

Good thing he had his interview recorded by an un-biased source.  He shared it on social media.  Otherwise America would never know.

I like the starship troopers approach.

The population should be divided into citizens and civilians. In order to obtain full citizenship, you complete a full military term of service and pass the same assessment as naturalized citizens.

Voting isn't a right. It never was and neither the original nor the amended Constitution state anything about the right to vote, outside of restrictions based on race, gender, age or income, all of which are covered under the 14th, 15th, 19th, 24th and 26th amendments.

We should start a school called "school for people who can't read the Constitution good" so they stop making stuff up when it suits them.

SST was based off a novel that made a parody of a right wing authoritarian society, but I don't entirely dismiss the merit of the idea.

Instead of military service we should all be required to register with a local militia and complete basic training and a few weeks refresher every year. That way we don't get sent off to some middle east meat grinder, shot up full of deadly experimental drugs, and left to rot with VA psychologists doing their best to convince us to kill ourselves.
Stop blaming lazy people. We didn’t do anything.

You missed the premise of the post.

Voting is a right, but it's also a responsibility.  My question is whether more should be done to ensure the voters take that responsibility seriously or not.

In 1778, when the Constitution was ratified, the rules associated with elections were delegated to the states.

Land ownership was a requirement in most states to be eligible to vote.  Primarily, if one had "skin in the game," they tended to be most affected by government decisions.  Therefore, if you didn't own land, you were not allowed to elect representatives that impacted landowners.

In 1868, at the end of the Civil War, the 13th Amendment ended legalized slavery, and the 14th Amendment granted citizenship to anyone born in or naturalized as a US citizen.  The intent was to ensure former slaves enjoyed the rights of citizenship even if they were born outside the country.

In 1870, Blacks were included in the right to vote via the 15th Amendment.

It wasn't until 1920 that the 19th Amendment gave the right to vote to women.

So, while it's now considered a right of all people, there is in fact a history and tradition of limiting voting rights to those who demonstrate they are engaged in commerce, land ownership and are law abiding (not a felon).

Even the men who created the government lamented that when voters figure out they can vote themselves portions of the nation's wealth, it will begin the downfall of the nation.

My point is, just staying alive until your 18th birthday is not the only consideration when deciding if someone is actually capable of making a reasoned and well-informed choice on ballots.

Not just Republicans.  Every state has a statute that requires periodic purging and updating of voter roles.

So, don't try to make this a Republican conspiracy.

Do you advocate for the honor system in the voter registration and ballot systems in all states?  i.e. no verification of identity or citizenship whatsoever?

Too bad the right to bear arms paradigm doesn't apply to voting.  Both are rights, but only one requires background checks, proof of legal resident status, not a user of illegal narcotics, etc.

If politicians can violate the 2A, what's to stop from this? When you set precedent for violating 1 right all the time, it can be used to violate others.

That's what's already happening.  Many states are not following due process to ensure a legal vote is not being canceled out by an illegal one.  To allow that to happen is disenfranchisement which is a crime.

My right to vote as a US-born citizen should never be at risk of unverified people being allowed to vote.

All the GOP is asking for is that the states verify citizenship when someone registers to vote, and that the voter's identity is verified when they submit their ballot.

It's literally the bare minimum due diligence.  And you think there's supposed to be some kind of due process?  Nobody is being charged with a crime unless they are found to be committing voter fraud or election interference.

You can't have a real democratic process if one side is always rigging the game with ineligible voters.

If it's a Republican doing it, it's the wrong thing.

If it's a Democrat, it's the right thing.

Figuring out what a TDS-afflicted Biden voter thinks isn't rocket science.

So easy, even a caveman can do it!

At least a caveman would make the vote for Harris based on a random mark once they figure out how to work the ballot.  Compare this to a Harris voter who is even more unintelligent and choosing to mark Harris on the ballot.
