Yep, the only way they get to wring their hands, complain about life, and play the entitlement and victim game.

Either that or they have to find a real job.  And we know their answer to that.......

Don't know how the heck anyone can think she's good for their interests.  Guessing many are voting via looks or some other persona aspect.  There are so many examples and videos of her that leaves me

Or. . . maybe it takes time for people to see beyond the smokescreen. . . which seems to be evident in the recent election results.

That said, Hawaii still re-elects Hirono. . .

The D after your name is very powerful in hawaii.  You can be a hopeless idiot but you are safe.  As long as that D remains with you.  Hirono and others like her are proof.  I wish they would go poof.

R after your name scares the people of hawaii.  They know they will have to eventually go out and get a real job.  And actually work.

D and certain ethnicity/race names.  As well as "eh, they went (insert local school)", no matter if they haven't done anything for Hawaii, ever. . .

AOC got 123,269 votes this time around, 68.9%

her republican opponent, Tina Forte, got 55,580 votes, 31.1%.

considering AOC's incumbency and front-page visibility, I'd say Tina Forte did pretty good for a no-name person.  in 2020, AOC got 71.6%.

I am no fan of AOC but this really isn't her area of responsibility. She represents her constituents nationally and makes national laws but this problem of prostitution in red light areas is really something that falls under the purview of local and state laws and agencies. AOC doesn't direct New York police or prosecutors and she doesn't affect New York law. She could ask for federal money to help address the problems but she doesn't have authority there.

You are so naive.

The feds control state-level issues constantly by making federal funding for programs and projects contingent on following federal guidelines.

Highways, education, infrastructure, and so on receive all kinds of federal funding, but their are strings attached.  For example, educational funding for facilities is tied to the number of students on the free or reduced lunch program.  Therefore, there's a push at the beginning of each Fall school semester to get as many students qualified for that program as possible -- even if the students' parents make their lunch for them everyday.

So, if AOC wanted to fix these problems and if she actually had a workable plan, she could very easily tie additional funding for state and local law enforcement to whatever requirements she defines.

Given her track record, I give it 50/50 whether anyone would commit to her requirements, based on how ridiculous the Green New Deal plan of hers was.

Totally missing the point…

It is her “AoR”.  And to think that she doesn’t have influence regardless of her “official capacity” is either naive or you’re purposely being obtuse.

I remember that one time Nancy Pelosi was honest.

Quote
"When we won this election, it wasn't in districts like mine or Alexandria's.
And she's a wonderful member of Congress, I think all of our colleagues
will attest," Pelosi, a California Democrat, told an audience Monday night
at a London School of Economics event during a U.K. visit.

"But those are districts that are solidly Democratic. This glass of water
would win with a D next to its name in those districts
," she said,
picking up the water at her table.
