There is 1 more house floor vote.

Then it goes to a senate floor vote, but before this happens the committee heads of both sides will meet to discuss. These are Elefante (Senate PSM), Karl Marx (Senate JDC), and Tarnas (House JHA).  If they all agree to the language of the bill, then it goes to the senate floor vote.  None of these 3 are friends to the 2A, which is why the calls to the senate heads as in the NRA-ILA post are important.

1 house rep voted for the bill and was unaware of the changed to it.  The rep thought it was only a 50 cal ban.

no
the goal is to stop the bill from reaching the floor vote
secondary goal is to stop the bill on the floor vote

Has the next House floor vote been scheduled?

Floor vote will likely be on Tuesday.  Or Thursday at the latest.  Is there going to be a rally?

I would organize it but I’m a conspiracy theorist and nobody listens to me until it’s too late

Edit: sorry I was trying to be funny but it came out kind of whiny

Did you say something?  I wasn't paying attention.

Seriously though I haven’t seen most of you guys since the Bruen party. It would be fun to have a rally and get the team back together.

It passed the House today with the third reading vote.  Goes to conference committee where House and Senate negotiate, then vote.

Looks like they intend on ramming this through. The only chance to stop it is a rally and phone campaign.
For the past few months liberals have been rallying again and again at the capitol, sometimes turning out in the hundreds.
It doesn't matter that a lot of them are paid to be there. The legislators just see the crowd and think that it gives them permission to make any kine.

There's no one coming to the rescue. If we lose this one it's on us.

Do we know who's on the conference committee?

Tarnas, Rhoads, Elefante, Awa.  Maybe one or two more.

@k3k0a808

i'm looking at SB401 HD1 (I think that's the right one?):

Quote
page 10
16 (c) The manufacture, possession, sale, barter, trade,
17 gift, transfer, or acquisition of detachable [ammunition]
18 magazines with a capacity in excess of ten rounds [which] that
19 are designed for or capable of use with [a pistol is] any
20 firearm shall be prohibited.

expands the current 10rd pistol mag limit to all firearms.

the 50cal ban also bans Desert Eagle 50AE as far as I can tell, for what it's worth.  Neither here nor there, since nobody has those anyways, right?

Ah.. ok there it is... thanks! Is this mean a grandfather clause?

This subsection shall not apply to a person's possession of an assault rifle, an assault shotgun, or a .50 caliber firearm registered to the person before July 8, 2025, pursuant to 134-3.
     A person authorized under this subsection to possess an assault rifle, an assault shotgun, or a .50 caliber firearm shall possess that weapon only:
     (1)  On private property owned or immediately controlled by the person;

     (2)  On private property that is not open to the public with the express permission of the person who owns or immediately controls the property;

     (3)  While on the premises of a licensed firearms dealer or gunsmith for the purpose of lawful repair;

     (4)  While engaged in the legal use of the assault rifle, assault shotgun, or .50 caliber firearm at a properly licensed firing range or sport shooting competition venue; or

     (5)  While traveling to or from the locations listed in paragraphs (1) through (4); provided that the assault rifle, assault shotgun, or .50 caliber firearm is unloaded in an enclosed container, as defined in section 134-24.

Some of my issues with this bill:
1. They didn’t even make an exemption to be able to use these semi rifles and shotguns for hunting.
2. Their definition of assault shotgun uses the characteristic of having a max capacity of five rounds. Okay, well what type of shells because there’s no language to support the type? A shotgun that is advertised for four 2 3/4” shells could probably also hold six 1 3/4” mini shells. Being able to hold six shells now bans a lot more shotguns based on the bill’s language.
3, Their 10 round mag capacity is not the end game. If it was then there would be no justification to limit shotguns to five. They’re already projecting what the next push could be.

Good point that hunting wouldn't be an allowable purpose. Lots of semiautos used for eradication hunting.

Sorry, I've been ill lately. But could this blatant crap be a diversionary tactic? Maybe while something else is being snuck up our okole? It's a classic war maneuver.

The diversion has already taken place. SB401 was the only material hardware ban that made it out of committee, and was the least impactful one. (It lowered the max caliber limit from "over 50 cal" to "50 cal"; if somebody had the time and money to wildcat a 50 BMG into a 499 FUKR, then the law would have zero practical effect other than inconvenience.) The mag bans and "assault weapon" bans didn't make it out of committee. And SB401 only made it out of committee because Awa did a realpolitik deal with Karl Rhoads.

But then they copy-and-pasted (gut-and-replaced) the mag bans and assault weapon bans from the failed bills into this bill.

Since the average Democrat in the house will vote Yes on anything that bans guns, it passed with flying colors. It'll probably pass the Senate too, our only hope being that it's watered down or Constitutionally-rejected by virtue of being a gut-and-replace.

They've been trying to pass this for decades and it looks like they finally did. Because A. gut-and-replace tactics and B. because Awa got played hard.
