it doesnt matter. you're fighting for the perception of the crowd. its not a structured debate, its about making an impression. right now, people on the other side think gun owners are crazy and violent.
coming off as aggressive and pugnacious just reinforces that negative stereotype, especially since the other side already expects it and it just feeds their confirmation bias.
this is politics. understand that the last thing that matters is the truth. what really matters is what others think of you, and you have control over that. it really doesnt have anything to do with facts, or who is right or wrong, its a popularity contest.
do you want to be perceived as the crazy gun owner? or do you want to be seen as part of a mass of reasonable, calm firearms enthusiasts who are supporting their rights in a well mannered way?
