What the fuck?  I take hours off work, bus downtown, and find myself at a rally of one.  You worthless fucknuts!
Sorry, couldn't help but laugh at this "rally of one" hahaha

Like Funtimes said, weekday issues, working on taxes since the vast majority of the population has no idea how to navigate the Internal Revenue Code.
What if rhinos are just fat unicorns?

Really unfortunate we couldn't get a lot of people out there. I'm looking at pics from the other gatherings around the nation and they have much more people.  I think here it was due to the lack of knowledge about this event and Hawaii's  not a pro 2a state. Ill tell my friends to join here so they're more aware in the future

Its also a lack of scarifie people are willing to make a  to be there....

Very difficult for DoD to show on a work day and also the potential to end up being filmed to boot is not good depending on rank/position within the DoD (military & civilian).

I did sign some leave today but I too feel the need to avoid being on camera ;)   Weekday had to be the biggest factor in the low turnout.

Still enjoyed putting faces to the forum names, great meeting the folks that showed up.   Sorry I couldn't stick around for the hearing, will be there when SB219 hits the floor for sure!

I think lack of organization.  I didn't know if this rally was happening or not happening.  I assumed not.  Last rally, there was no doubt.  The 2aHawaii moderator sent an email.  the gun stores had leaflets.  OGC sent a tweet.    Very well publicized.

I try to encourage people to go to 2ahawaii.com to get in touch with the 2a community here locally.

I am an HRA member and went to the HRA meeting last night.  I announced today's rally and folks were going, "What rally?  What time is that tomorrow?"   It would have been nice for the 50+ people at the meeting yesterday to have shown up today at least but yeah, short notice and I understand that not everyone could have made it.

I wonder if people think that 2aHawaii.com is some other club in competition with their own clubs.  I don't see 2aHawaii.com as a club but just as an online forum for the Hawaii 2A community.

Please encourage people to go to 2aHawaii.com, regardless of what club people belong to.  I can't think of a more active website for this community than this and think this is the best place to get the latest information of common interest to our group.
I think, therefore I am armed.

Sorry we missed you Tom_G.  We made the best of today and must have been eating free manapua at the 4th floor when you came.

No worries... we'll be there again for the next get together.  Hopefully with more folks next time.

Maybe someone should design a shirt that we can wear around town and at events such as this, that has the website on it and what we stand for

sorry I couldn't make it today,  I forgot I had a meeting at HCC.     My boss wanted me to take off and go to the rally but unfortunately I couldn't.

funtimes is right, it was just bad timing.  one bad showing doesn't change a thing.  keep up the fight.

Even Hickok45 only had a hundred at his 20 but others had more.  This is all still grassroots so yeah we need to reach out locally more.  I don't think we can wait for another organized rally as these bills are going forth now.  We need a flyer listing each one with testimony info, dates, etc. and every shop needs a stack.  Maybe even some kind of announcement in whatever local rags can like MidWeek or an insert?  A radio campaign it cost 3k but that was a great way to spread info wide.  Is HRA PAC or whatever working on getting the word out?  I couldn't make the meeting Thursday night, if anyone knows please post some info.

Lastly I'd still like the pics from today, PM if you don't want to post publicly, though we have nothing to be embarrassed about, low turnout vs. the first one which was smashing for Hawaii!

We proudly pledge our support to become new Founding
Fathers and join with a new kind of society—where decency
and respect require no special day on the calendar, where boys
are taught that violence does not equal strength, and where
men stand with courage and conviction to speak with one voice
to say, “No more.”

"And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."

STAY IN THE FIGHT!  WE AIN'T DONE BY A LONGSHOT.

I'm sure there are.  I don't know everyones screen name. Adam L. was on the list. I remember he started one of the petitions.

i think its good to have rallies. it shows the public that we are not a small group and can come together to organize. we are many different people. we look different and each love different types of firearms.

i also think its good to submit testimony online in support or opposition of a bill.  when they pull out a fat stack( a few hundred thick) of opposition, its quite impressive.  watching the aide lug that around.

However, nothing beats showing up in person to submit testimony if at all possible.
during the hearing yesterday, i wasnt sure if i was going to testify.  was quite nervous actually.
after sitting through and listening to everyone else, i decided that i would. nearly everyone else represented an alphabet organization.  i had to at least say something, as a firearms owner in hawaii.
me, flyboy, and someone else, dont remember his name, were the only independent ones.
after the hearing many thanked us and shaked our hands for giving testimony.

i think its good to show a presence during the hearings.  were just normal law abiding firearm owners, and they need to see us, know that we have an interest at stake as well, and are individuals who will show up if necessary.

Im not trying to put down anyone else for their efforts, so i hope that it doesnt sound that way.   :shaka: , There are many hats that we can wear, and i encourage you all, if you have never been to a hearing before to submit testimony, or have been to nervous, or cant get off work, you should make it down at least once in your life.  its an awesome feeling.

I know a lot of forum members signed the petition.  I just have yet to learn all of you guys' names!  ;D

I'm all for doing the rallies, but overall, I feel submitting online testimony, and if at all possible, showing up in person and speaking to them face to face makes the biggest difference.

I could hear my own voice shaking when I went up.  I've never really been great at speaking in front of people, especially "important" officials.  Still, I feel showing that you're there because you believe in something strikes harder to the legislators because you're not representing an organization.  You're representing yourself and the rest of your community, and sacrificing your own time to be there.
