I prefer the M&P ...  And lastly,  I'm glad someone finally said it, the M&Ps are just a whole lot nicer looking.

Hahaha, with a name like "M&P family" I'd expect nothing less from you.

My first pistol was a Walther P99, still have and love it!  Fits my hand great, the changeable back straps was a novel feature and godsend back then.  Ultra reliable.  Only con is most rail lights don't fit, that has been addressed since then in later versions.  The trigger and all it's various settings will take training but also pretty novel.  Plus it has a decocker, visual and tactile loaded chamber indicator, etc.  Yep, still love this gun!

I've had many guns since that one and really like the XDm a lot.  A lot!  It's a total shame to have to neuter the mags from 19 to 10 here though.  Stupid illogical liberal thinking but it is what it is (so far).  I also dig the manual of arms on the Springfield.  Just seems to cross from 1911 to XDm seamlessly.  I could not get used to the M&P mag release for example, though it's a fine shooter.  Go back to the XDm and back in the comfort zone.

Anyways, so many guns to choose from.  I hope you can get trigger and holster time to see which work for you.  One probably won't fit into all settings so you'll end up with more guns sooner or later ;)  One is none and all that.

ps.
Howzit aieahound!  I still ready to buy that one whenever you ready to sell, lol!

Out of curiosity, have you tried an XD?  If you like the ergonomics of the M&P, I'm pretty sure, you'd like how the XD feels.  I've got an 9mm XD, and an M&P in .45.  They both feel great, and shoot well.  The trigger on the M&P isn't that great, neither is the reset on the XD, which can easily be fixed, with a drop in trigger kit.  If you are dead set on your choices, all I have to say is, that you can't go wrong with either one.  But if you like to accessorize,  I'd go with the Glock, just due to the fact of how big the market for Glocks is.

The only polymer pistol I'd consider replacing my Glocks with is the new Walther PPQ.
+1
i was going to eventually buy a glock to compliment my ppq, but now that they offer the 2nd gen ppq in a 5" barrel and with button style mag release(instead of the debated ambi paddles, which to me are excellent) there isnt a reason to. now theres a ppq for everyone.
parts availability will grow significantly because of the new longer barrel models for idpa n other competitions and also because the ppq line will double or triple in sales in 2013 just because of the introduction of the longer barrel and button magazine release which americans love so much and also since walther opened a usa branch so you dont have to deal with smith and wesson anymore since they previously imported it but didnt carry parts or want to service it since they sell a competitor, the m&p9/40.  i cant wait til more people jump on the walther bandwagon so aftermarket parts increases. right now parts are limited but there isnt a need for improvement really. there is a jard drop in barrel and a sprinco recoil reducing spring available. to me the only upgrades you need are dawson fiber optic metal sights or meprolight nightsights.

only thing i could think of is if i could ever get ahold of a reasonably priced keltec sub2000 in g22 mag config then id buy a glock pistol to match.

oh my second recommendation is the steyr m9a1. its like an updated  21st century glock. after i get my hands on an m&p22 or the new ppk in .22 i will be getting this steyr. you can really choke up on the grip of one of those. low bore axis and very high quality. i havent shot one but i held one and borat would agree that it was "naaaiiiiiiice" mags go for around $30 too so its not that bad. walther p99/ppq mags are $60, but there is a $30 generic magnum research version of a p99, and the ppq mags are exactly the same except for the finish.

hey bro you got a link for barrel conversions for Springfield XD handguns?
Might have to check that out

I bought the one from Pistol Gear for my XDM 40. Converts it to 9mm. Conversion takes about 5 seconds. They have barrels for both the XD and XDM. Not for the compacts yet though.

I know storm lake and bar-sto also make conversion barrels.
