I think you really need that C&R!

My three new Mosins are in pieces now.  All the short pieces are in a pan, and the barrels are in PVC pipes with one end capped.  I'm going to soak them in mineral spirits this weekend and get them super clean!

The stocks will be wrapped and left in the hot sun.  I read heat is the best method of getting the cosmoline out of the wood pores.

I'm debating about refinishing the stocks.  I think I'll wait until after I test fire them.  Varnishing will take longer than I want to wait before seeing if they shoot straight.  Yeah, I'm impatient, too!!   :shake:

Nice!  Salutes go out to Iraqverteran for the mosin tips.
I've been rubbing down the wood with howards feed amd wax.
I did the hot boilng water today with simple green.  Like a moron i decided to hold the front site hood and poyr boiling water.  Bad idea my fingers now hate me.

I got this new piece at a damn good price. I thought it was in okay condtion when I spoke to the seller but it cleaned up nice.  I'd rate it good to vg condtion.   Bore came out very strong.   I was planning on chopping this one up and making a 16" beast mosin truck gun.  But condtion might me too nice to do that.

Moose post pics!

i have a '43 91/30 with a 2x7-32 hi lux scope with 1 piece scope mount on the weaver under the factory rear iron sight. used to have a bushnell trs-25 on it. red dot wouldve matched a 38 or 44 more.

Were shooting for 10 am sunday the 21st.  Pm if you wanna come by ill give you my number.
I only have 1 rifle frame hopfully someone can bring another so we can shoot at 50 or 100.  Even better of we can get a stall inline with the steel targets.

What mount did I buy jaynick?  I'm looking at the brassstacker or the jmeck.  Only prob is I need a bent bolt if I choose to use a long rifle scope.  The best guy for the bolts "boltman" is backed up 3 months.

Sup midori nice meeting you today at hpd

I hope to come across a nice finnish m38 and hopefully a sniper.  I'm awaiting my c&r I should know in the next week or 2.

I hope to have a mosin shoot gathering once every few months more often if the turnout gets good.

M38 and 91/59 are the other 2 Russian carbine variants. Your thinking Finnish m39.....WANT  :shake:
Mosin shoot out should be fun, a coworker of mine decided to get  a Type 53 when I told him I got my M44 and I'm hoping to find an M39 in the next couple months.

I think you really need that C&R!

Sunlight sounds good but I am also far too impatient. Akimbo heat gun and blow dryer when I need to remove cosmo, though I do hope my m44 is clean, fingers crossed.

I had to look it up but there were some finnish captured m38's. Pretty rare though.
Any chance you'll be able to go to the range on a Thursday? Otherwise I guess I'll have to start a weekday surplus rifle faction.

I'm sure I can take a day off in the future.  Hopefully we get this going we can plan in advance so we can all meet up.  I also would like to get a ar500 12" plate to shoot.  I'm worried that the 7 62x54 round may make swiss chese out of a 3/8 plate.  I would go 1/2 but price jumps and I still need to build a frame

I've got 4" 6" and 8" ar500 plates. I was planning on adding a 10" or 12" hexagonal plate. Now I have a reason. O0

Nice where did u order them from?  How did u build the stand frame?

I've been weary about some of the surpluss ammo that some guys state that they have brought surpluss ammo and unknowingly it was AP ammo (armor pericing) which will kill a 1" plate
