I'm thinking, "this better be better than my Ruger"   :D
j/k. Will definately post a comparison with Ruger and S&W, but I am lucky to get the Python. I feel lucky that the shop called me. That is awesome service from SEC and no price gouging. Props to SEC!     :shaka: :shaka:
I remember throughout the last panic I had my name on several lists from SEC for certain powders and 22 ammo. I received calls from them about both CCI SV and Blazer and when I went down I paid pretty much the same price as before the Panic. I can’t say the same for other LGS there. Prices had increased slightly from before the panic but well within what I considered a normal price. And way less than what the other LGS were charging.

So props to SEC for not gouging their customers. Honesty goes a long way.

Well, I went and took a couple of pics today:

they didn't have anything new/used to sell me (my CC thanks them!).

686-4--pre lock, pre mim (I think).  CNC machined, so the tightest tolerances possible for a production piece.  Drilled and tapped for scope mount--gonna try a reflex on it.
Basically,  the best S&W had to offer.

Spegel grips dated to 2016, Macassar ebony  O0 with S&W medallions.  2-3 year wait on the grips.

Sweeeeeet!

while i'm waiting for my hpd appt, I ordered a set of silverblack checkered grips with finger grooves from Altamont with the Colt medallion. website says it'll fit the new Python. Altamont makes the factory grips for the new Python. I want to keep the factory grips in perfect condition bc I intend on shooting this Python
also going to take the fiber optic front sight from my Cobra and put it on the Python bc easier to see for me.  I already swapped out the front sight on the Cobra for a tritium night sight.  from my research the cobra sight will fit although slightly shorter.  if it doesn't work out, i'll switch it back. easy swap.   >:D

Congratulations and welcome to the club.  Sooo...you're the third guy to score a Python (at SEC, right?)  They told me they had 4 come in the last shipment.

My first centerfire handgun was a blued, 4" Python.  It was an early gun, well used (in RVN, of all places).  I've owned others--several 4"ers, 1 8", no 6"ers surprisingly but if SEC gets in some 6" Pythons my name is on their list.

Just picked it up and decided to detail clean it. When I cocked the hammer and looked down the frame found that it was pumped full of grease, paste thick. When I got it apart it was nasty. Before and after pics. Model 681 wearing spalted maple grips.

What's stamped above the triggerguard?  Which PD did it come from?

Model 13 by Mahalo808, on Flickr

My birth year gun. 1979 model 13. 357 mag. Not even a hint of cylinder line. Oddly still none after 200 plus rounds in one go.
Wearing a pair of american holly :shaka:

Group pic from sat. My smiths and Ruger, and my cousins 2 dan wessons. Man if I knew the steel side was going to open would have went that side. Only saw when we was driving out. Only had 5 cars over there.

Good note. Everything was 100% reloads and guns. Even my light striking 625, thanks to jc to coming through with a factory hammer spring and strain screw. Have it set to a little over 9 lbs :shaka: 500 rds 38+p and 100 rds 357 mag. 125 rds 45 acp out the 625. It was a good day :geekdanc:

Sad note. My beautiful spalted grips on my 681 chipped right a the corner of the frame at the square butt. I found the chip and glued it back on. There was just a little play in the grip and I guess it cracked under recoil shimmed the grip a little and. Now she is rock solid. Have to see what happens to the glue when I shoot again.
