Aloha, everyone!
I'm moving to Hawaii & would like to bring a handgun. From what i can read in the law, i can bring it in my checked baggage as long as i tell the tsa it is there, unloaded, locked in a case. Then i have 3 days to register it with the Honolulu Police dept. I've traded 2 of my 15 round mags for 2 -10's. So then i can take it to the range, locked in the case, unloaded, & shoot it. As long as i keep it at home, it is ok.
Is this basically right? Any problems bringing it? I don't want it to be confiscated because i missed some detail, nor go to jail because i misread or misinterpreted something.
Once i get settled, i plan on applying for the cc permit.
I'll be on oahu, plan on going to the range every so often.. maybe i'll see some of you there!
On a side note, is there decent long range shooting at the outdoor range on oahu? 200yds+? Not for the handgun, obviously..
BTW, i have a gen 4 9mm glock & S&W K-22 masterpiece. I'll probably just bring one for now.
Thanks in advance..
