Wow, I can't believe I'm going to be the first one to mention this one: WAY OF THE GUN. (Maybe it's a bit obscure because it didn't do all that well in the theaters.)

If you haven't seen this movie, rent it as soon as you can. It's an homage to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but probably the most realistic gun movie I've ever seen. (For example, sniper bullets hit first, then you hear a crack! then a distant BOOM.) Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie (writer of The Usual Suspects).

I saw that movie in the theaters, but that was before I got into guns. I'll have to watch it again.

+1 on Stallone and Banderas' "Assassins".  Entertaining for sure!

What about Clive Owen's "Shoot Em Up" or "Sin City"?

There's also Daniel Craig's movie "Defiance" which is based on a true story.

Emilio was in that film?  I remember Dennis Haysbert, Michael Bien, Rick Rossovic(?) too.

I like Michael Mann's movies as well--my favorite is Thief with James Caan.  Slo-mo reload of a 1911, High Standard bullpup 12 ga., what's not to love?  +1 on Clint and the Duke as well.  I also like the original Killer Elite with Caan, Bo Hopkins and Burt Young.  There's a scene where Burt clobbers two ninjas with an empty 1911--I don't know why but I just love it!  There's also a scene where one of the guys is holding what looks like a Ingram smg but it's got the fore-end, barrel and front sight of an Uzi attached upside down--I'm still trying to figure that one out!

My vote for the best gun scene in a movie is from Indiana Jones where Jones shoots the sword wielding thug in the marketplace--all time classic validation of why you have a gun in the first place, and non-gun types get it immediately as well.

I love the look on his face when he blasts him.

You may consider using www.imfdb.net for your "what gun did (actor) use in (movie or tv show)" inquerries.

"Open Range" for western style shootouts, "Heat" for the Bank Robbery scene, "Public Enemies" for 1930's cops and robbers; too many to list!

Yeah sorry about that guys I made the correction to my original post.  I was confused and should have checked before posting.  The two brothers made several films together around that time.  As for western gun movies it will always be The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly for me.

Where Eagles Dare.  Clint Eastwood shoots half a dozen people (mostly in the head) with his PPK, then RELOADS before he reholsters.  When Richard Burton picks up the MP-40 from the dead Nazi, he takes all the spare magazines, too.

And I love the JU-52 in winter camo.
