General Discussion / Re: What's up with the owner of Kaneohe Gun Shop (KGS)
« on: November 19, 2013, 06:41:51 AM »
Tom, I hope that we did not hurt anyone with the blog.  I was just curious and it certainly drew a lot of attention from folks who are more experienced with the shop. I took no offense from the little guy and yes he can be an easy target which is why we just left the shop politely.  He has a chip on his shoulder. Judging by the comments on Yelp it is what it is.

Hey thats great if he donates his time and I had no idea! Good on him for supporting a local "not for profit"  club.  Besides, it looks like Kokohead is the only viable solution for non MIL/LEO to improve their weapons manipulation skill set, unless you have your own land or know someone who has the acreage to shoot.

Let me put this into perspective.  Some of the biggest jerks in the gun industry volunteer and give back to the community as well.  Rob Pincus will belittle neophytes during a class just because he can.  He speaks so fast and vomits a bunch of information which literally confuses less seasoned shooters.  However, when you see him on Personal Defense Network, he is a saint and the next best thing to "tacticool".  Many years ago, I aspired to train with him.  It was a big disappointment when we trained with his company.  Some of our personal associates will not invite him to various units who are preparing to go into harms way.

Another example is Mark La Rue, from La Rue Tactical.  He donates thousands of dollars to various 2A organizations across the country.  Unfortunately, he is very arrogant and it shows when ever we see him at Shot Show.  He once placed an offered at his booth to replace defective ARMS mounts with his mounts in effort to discredit the competition.  The management from Shot Show told him to stop doing that.  He complied and refused to speak to anyone for the rest of the show.  No class at all. There are more of them out there and the owner of KGS is no exception.  We have that in the mainland too.

Finally, please understand that there a hand full of credible folks working at the AT/FP Training Center at Pearl Harbor.  I am not sure if he is one of those guys.  As I have stated before, the young man has passion but I personally would not want this guy covering my rear, based on the responses from his patrons and how he is perceived. He just dose not fit the persona of a credible instructor who is open to encouraging potential students to understand their limitations and capabilities under stress in a non permissive environment.  I am sorry but Suarez International and Chuck Taylor Schools do not count!  (check KGS website) These firearms instructors were former FRONT SIGHT employees who figured out a way to make money buy teaching folks dynamic shooting positions etc.  Chuck has a handgun master test which is not very difficult.  Suarez International dose not have a standards test, like SIG SAUER Academy and Rogers Shooting School. I have been fortunate enough to attend these schools and I always aspire to stay humble as firearms student/instructor because there are always going to be different ways to solve a problem.

Now I am curious and I will contact our folks at Ford Island to see what his background is, since he must be an adjunct instructor according to your statement, the next time we are TDY in Hawaii.

Lets put an end to this thread and I really appreciate the candid feedback.  I never expected to see this many response in a short amount of time.  Tom, you are right! KGS has definitely made an impact in this  arena.

Mahalo Gents!

He was actually one of my instructor's when I went to SRF-A (Security Reaction Force-Advance) in Yokosuka, JA. about 4 or 5 yrs. ago for one of my pre req. classes I needed for my AT-TRA SUPV. Instructor certification. I thought he was a really good instructor/facilitator and offered quite a bit of insight and was easily approachable in training and/or sidebar.

awesome ichiban!
what's it like switching from DA/SA to LEM?

Thanx, I knew it would be different but not as much so it's definitely going to take a little getting used to particularly since the .40 as you may expect has that extra bite not felt in the LEM 9mm.

I don't know what your agenda is, maybe you really wanted Zimmerman to be guilty, or that you had previously claimed this was a racial incident and when it wasn't, you just had to stick to your original idea despite any facts to the contrary....whatever that is, it's obvious you aren't really interested in the truth, or as you say, the FACTS....

You have made claims that you still haven't been able to substantiate....as you mentioned earlier, you claim Zimmerman was told to stay in his vehicle....prove it!

As for following Martin, Zimmerman did as he was asked, regardless of any real duty to so so.....

Who said anything about race? You're funny, I'm surprised it took this long for one of you to bring it up. You keep talking in circles, what are you trying to prove? I said what I said & will stand by it, if you all want to take things out of context that's on you I could really care less cause when it's all said and done I have way better things to do then to appease your ever so swollen ego's. This thread if nothing else showed your agenda. Good luck with law school... lol, I have the transcripts... who does that. It's been fun, well funny anyway. #Semantics

For someone who claims others can't read, you don't read so good yourself, huh? You claim he was told to stay in the vehicle. Should be an easy FACT to prove, but in FACT you cannot, because that never happened.

The FACT is that you are purposefully being argumentative and evasive after making claims you cannot substantiate, and that probably means you are, as I originally stated, misinformed or willfully ignorant of the real facts and are instead trying to forward your own agenda without regards to the FACTS.....I think so here would call that being a troll....me, I just call it being stupid.

Obviously you don't really mean what your tag line says.....'cause you really don't know what you don't know....

Agenda, what would that be?  As I mentioned before, the operator told him they didn't need him to follow him PERIOD & THAT TOO IS A FACT.
14
You need to read better.  I never said you were a troll, just that it's a coincidence you joined and are behaving this way.

Hit a nerve?

Insinuating doesn't work for me. Saying what you mean works much better. As for the nerves, no where near it, just taking a break between some course work... This is entertaining.

The FACT that he was told they didn't need him to follow says more than enough, safe to say he chose to ignore that right.
16
Hey Ichibandj, I'm still waiting for you to find where he was told to stay in the car.....you'd think it would be easy enough since I provided the transcript for you....

Ummm for the last time since ya'll can't seem to read so well.... PLEASE LISTEN!!!

I guess you need to instant replay that too! Troll is a name if I'm not mistaken, I'll take that prize now!

Anyone else find it coincidental this Ichibandj registered about the same time a couple of troll accounts were banned?

Too much of a coincidence for me!!             :wtf:

Your point is? If I'm a troll that most certainly makes  you a CLOWN NOW WTF THAT!

Unless you can come up with a fact that show Zimmerman attacked Martin first, nothing you have to say about whether the 911 dispatcher said stay or not is relevant.

You're basically saying, if Trayvon had just not gone out to buy skittles and Iced Tea to get high that night, he's still be alive.

At some point, he attacked Zimmerman.  I don't think he was provoked.  I think he was the aggressor.

Prove otherwise.

You can think whatever you want, neither you or I was there  and YES  that was what we  were talking about... the 911 call so it's very relevant. I can see clearly now how you've overlooked that from the on goings of the whole case.  #Done

You should check your "facts".....

However, even IF you are correct, following someone is not sufficient cause for the other person to attack you and bash your skull into the pavement.

It was self defense, whether you think so or not.

lol, facts are checked, you should look into yours.  Google is your friend 911 tapes are public. Oh & you're right, following and confronting are two very different things and if I recall correctly one was in a vehicle in which they were told to stay in and the other on foot minding their own business.
