Prior to 94 only applies to rifles. all handguns needed to be registered I matter when they were brought in. All you have to do is ask your gramps if he registered it, if he did get the info and apply for permit.

Curious...what hapens if it was registered?

Don't think I'd trust a manufacturer that doesn't know their left from their right.

Don't have experience with the SSA, but I have the SSA-E. Really nice 2nd stage let off. Ordered a Timney 3# trigger, but didn't feel as crisp as I expected so I returned it.

Sorry, found out that free shipping doesn't apply to Hawaii. UPS for a rail would be about $40.  :(

Long guns can be shipped through USPS. When I had asked here about shipping a stripped receiver, I got a lot of good feedback about shipping firearms. According to Colt808, you don't need to declare the rifle.

I ended up shipping my stripped receiver by UPS cause I didn't quite feel comfortable sending it as a rifle through USPS. UPS rules say that it has to be shipped in a new box that meets their requirements for a shipping container. When I went to pick up a box from the local UPS store, the girl said not to seal the box so that they can inspect the contents at main station.

Tom_G, do they inspect your box at UPS when you declare your guns?

Forgot to put in the disconnector spring in and the trigger acted wierd. Also read of people putting the disconnector spring in upside down or using the wrong spring.

This is actually off of a gun I own. I was thinking of having work done by a gunsmith on the mainland.

Yeah, seems like a gray area. Just hate to have to pay extra shipping when all I need work on is the receiver. Thanks guys.

Has anyone shipped a stripped rifle receiver through the mail? Would you have to declare it as a firearm, and if so, would it raise some eyebrows if you're declaring it as a rife, but it's in a box the size of a pistol?

BTW sorry if I sounded so negative in my previous post. I think that a group buy is a great idea. Just that for this to make economic sense, you guys should explore other shipping options like seeing if they are willing or able to ship via UPS freight. Or taking advantage of their free mainland shipping and having them send it to a freight forwarder on the west coast. Anyways, good luck.

Hi folks. Before you guys do this, you should find out what the actual shipping charges would be. The actual shipping charges will increase as the amount of ammo ordered increases. If their only option for shipping ammo to Hawaii is 2nd day air, the shipping charges are going to add up quickly. Also, the hazmat fee may cover a single order, but there may be limits on how much ammo can be included in one shipment. I can see if you wanted some kind of specialty ammo that's not readily available here, but for bulk ball ammo, I don't think you'll come out ahead.

A better way may be to approach a dealer to do a group buy for 2ahawaii members-maybe a dealer who's on this forum...just a thought.
