While I completely agree that Oahu (I have not been to the other islands yet so I cannot comment on them) has been transformed from a stunning tropical island to an urban wasteland, that doesn't change the fact that CCW would make it a safer place to live NOW. No one can go back and change the past, all we can do is move forward from the point which we are at now.

I will say though, that I find it incredibly ironic that you are against the 2nd Amendment which, at it's core, was put in place to allow The People to defend themselves FROM A TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT. Of all the people out there, I feel that Hawaiians should be among the MOST sensitive towards our right to keep and bear arms.

Quote
"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."
George Washington
First President of the United States
Quote

"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."
George Mason
Co-author of the Second Amendment
during Virginia's Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788

Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose:  For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues.  KEEP ON FIGHTING CULT I MEAN 2A MEMBERS AND HAWAII WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons

KEEP HAWAII HAWAII..  SAY NO TO CCW IN OUR ISLAND HOME!!!

Clarification, not obscurity, please. I'm not sure what you are trying to say. CCW means white people will go around killing locals? War will break out? Locals will be borderline wiped out as they once were before? This is a racial issue after all? A culture clash?

*edit*
Please don't ridicule DH about the picture. What he's saying is critical to this discussion.

Simple:  More Hawaii people will get murdered.

I am so sorry.  I should of known:

Pro-gun gay groups seek to add nationwide CCW

Alex,  Minus the 10-20 2A Cult Members no one else in Hawaii really wants CCW.

Dunno why you somehow think you have the authority to speak for the entire state. You can't even support your own argument, let alone anybody else's.

I will be at HPD Firearms in about an hour if any of you want to have a talk about this!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I've figured out why you're so cranky about all this CCW business.  You're the registrar lady who has to do all the firearms paperwork down at the police station, aren't you?  More permits means more work for you, which is why you're so blatantly against CCW.  I'll be sure to say hello next time I'm registering a gun.

LMAO     If thats the case make sure you bring in goodies to eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alot of u pushing the issue are Navy guys am i correct??  U making all this noise and IF CCW is every allowed in Hawaii you will not be hear to see the destruction that it brings to the State.

Not that you're obligated, but it's obvious you did no reading on this subject as I pleaded you do. I was going to link a few for you here but I can't access most of those sites at work.

 - Fears being unfounded once shall issues & CCW have passed.

It's all been done before and the results are out there for everyone to see.

*edit*
For the sake of clarification, what destuction(s) do you believe will befall Hawaii upon passing of the CCW policy?

Happened once and it may happen AGAIN if CCW is allowed...

I think you guys missed the stuff I posted already from 2010 and how we rank across the nation.  I can go dig it back it up =p.

One thing to take note of, Asian culture is generally really against suicide. Many people are brought up for it to be a total disgrace and thus it doesn't happen *as* often as other areas of the country, and Caucasian males make up a large portion of those suicides. So looking at it from your "we don't want you mainlanders here" attitude, I would think you would want this here, as it gets rid of those you so proudly say you want out.

An increase of permits is not going to cause a dramatic change here on the islands; there is only a small percentage of the population that will even carry them. Efforts are better spent fighting other venues where people (vehicle crashes, pedestrian accidents etc.). Those venues also wont run the state a nice expensive bill.

I welcome any one to the Islands with open arms.  All i ask is that you respect the land, culture, and people.

Its not Locals vs mainlanders  its about no ccw in Hawaii.

And what about the estimated 200,000 women each year who use guns to DEFEND themselves from sexual assault? What do you tell them when you take their guns away? Call the cops and hope they catch the guy after the fact?

DH,

Stop deflecting. It's a common tactic used by criminals during an interrogation to avoid facing the truth. Comment on the quote above. I would be interested to hear your take on it.

By the way, to further contrast your previous point that Hawaii a safe place to live without CCW, the number of Forcible Rapes in Hawaii has jumped up pretty significantly in the last 3 years-to the fourth highest amount in the last 40 years.(1)  As a LEO in the military, I sincerely sympathize with the families of those Officers who died at the hands of murders, let's be honest, you're talking about 9 people over the course of 3 years across the entire country. What about the 1,081 women JUST IN HAWAII who were forcibly raped during that same time period? Maybe some of those women would have had a chance of defending THEMSELVES (instead of Hawaii) had their right to bear arms been restored. By the way, they aren't allowed to carry a taser or baton for their protection either. How the anti-2a crowd does not realize that they are COMPLICT in the violent acts committed against those women is beyond me.

If you truly cared about "Defending Hawaii," then you would open your eyes and look at what problems the citizens of the state of Hawaii are currently facing and RATIONALLY determine if returning 2nd Amendment rights to The People would mitigate them. Or do you have such little faith in your fellow Hawaiians that you don't trust them with a gun?

Clearly someone went back and edited their original posts-- we all saw what you wrote earlier.  I guess you got tired of us quoting your many contradictions?

I never delete ANYTHING!!!!   I got nothing to HIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O0

I can't quote directly from the thread since it's locked, but on Page 2 of the "Ask for Police Escort" thread, you said this:

Observe, folks. This is exactly what I've been talking about that drags us 10 years behind. The mentality, the mold, that needs to be broken if we're ever to stop being last. The training we've received to not only shed our own rights, but to repel our own rights. All emotion. This saddens me.

PS: Hawaii is a state that is part of the U.S.

Yep, this is the "locals vs. haoles" attitude

Eh Alex your friend 808shooter brought it up!!!!!

And quite your moaning haole is slang for white>>> In Hawaii everyone tease everyone.  Its from the old sugar cane plantation days.....

:wtf: Seriously? Now CCW is in Hawaii is a bad idea :), but teasing and racism are okay?  We all know you are a troll, but Is there anything you won't say to get a reaction?

Waiting on the next stupid comment.

LOL u just do not understand the local ways!!

If they are the same "local" ways that resulted in your one-track mind...I don't want to understand.  Have nice day.

If this ever comes to Hawaii, then really i do not want to understand...  Our brave men and women in the force put up with enough.  RIP to those that passed away.

Dregs u do make good points.  There is crime in Hawaii no doubt.  Property crime is very bad.  You can blame that on the ice heads and the high cost of living.  Hawaii is by far the safest state when it comes to firearms.  It is like that for a reason.
