My Sig 9mm is loaded and has one in the chamber & it is in my pushpad Gun Vault.  S&W 357 revolver loaded & Remington 870 loaded but no round in chamber - both guns locked in a gun safe.  My other rifles are unloaded and locked up in yet another gun safe.

Why?  I want to be prepared and not have to ask the bad guy to wait while I load my fire arm . . .

Probably not posting this in the correct thread, but does anyone keep a firearm close to the front door or maybe the garage?  My wife came home while I was coaching my son's practice and she thought she heard someone upstairs.  She didn't want to go to the room because it's upstairs.  I told her to get a neighbor if one was around or leave.  So she left.  Luckily we weren't burglarized.  I'm now debating if I should hide one in the garage with a trigger lock?  I dunno, live in a very safe neighborhood with good neighbors and while my son and his friends probably won't snoop around... We were all kids once and I found my dad's handgun, emergency cash, and a bunch of other stuff I probably wasn't supposed to know about...

I have a 12 gauge mossberg 590 right next to my bed with 5 rounds in it, but not chambered.  And i have a hidden AR 15-22LR in my kitchen area by my back door just in case a secondary weapon is needed in an emergency. That is also loaded with a full Mag but not chambered. A small .22 caliber handgun with 5 rounds in the mag, but not chambered.  I live with my girlfriend, mom, little sister, and 5' tall father in wahiawa, so i'm basically the only home defense we got here and we've already had a "snooper" walking inside my gated area by my house when he thought nobody was home.  Everybody says i'm just paranoid, but when sh*t hits the fan, i want to be ready to defend my family as well as myself.  And the .22 in my bathroom is incase somebody forces their way in my house while i'm taking a dump! 100% not a joke...  But back to the point of keeping a round in the chamber, i completely agree with it.  If somebody, or multiple people force their way into your home while you're there, who's to say you'll have time to get your weapon out of your lock, load it, then figure out what the heck is going on.  I always leave multiple rounds in all my firearms, because 1 round might be more dangerous than no rounds.  If you fire and miss, then you better load again fast!  If you fire and hit, but there's another person with him, they might take a revenge shot at you.  But that's just my paranoid thinking, and honest opinion. I always hope for the best but prepare for the worst.  NO children in my home as well, so that's a huge factor why i feel comfortable leaving rounds in my firearms.

I keep one in the chamber.

I have a biometric quick safe that is only programmed to my finger  but if I'm ever forced to grab my HD firearm to protect the family, I want it ready to go bang.

:thumbsup:Locked and loaded.... Safe and secured. If its fired.... they deserve it... Das all i gotta say...

Seeing that my HD piece doesn't have a safety, I keep it in my pushpad mini vault with the mag loaded, but chamber clear. Jus gotta rack it and it's good to go!!

Also, my SO and I have monthly drills on opening/racking/engaging, so I feel comfortable that she would have no problem defending herself if the situation presented itself.

Only time I would keep a firearm in condition 1 is if I had the trigger guard covered in a holster.

Children in the house? if yes, then I suggest nope.

No wrong answer here, just safe.
