I'm taking the HDF pistol skill builder.  Prob will be there earlier for the open shoot.  Got a noob I wanna show the ropes to.
Awesome!  Especially for bringing someone out and getting them into shooting.

Work on those skills and come out for a pistol match!  8)

Took my buddy’s son to the silhouette range today. He likes airsoft and plays a bunch of those shooter games (Fortnite, Rainbow something, etc). He’s a good shooter with airsoft. He did good with 9 mm, but his note that recoil was more than he expected, or at least more than on the video games.

Always good to take new shooters. He was safe and he was having fun. He actually enjoyed loading the mags more than shooting. Haha. So my other buddy and I were like “go ahead, can load our mags too”. Haha

Who's shooting this weekend?

Going to shoot a match this weekend.  Have been keeping the momentum of shooting consistently in 2020.  Have a class lined up next month and looking at some other stuff later this year.

I feel a great disturbance in the Force, as if your wheel guns are crying out for attention.  ;D

I shot those the last 2 weeks.  and last week the 1911 came along too.
i'm supposed to go next week, my friend has to zero his optic on his AR.
maybe i'll change my mind and shoot wheel guns this week, bolt action next week
it will be a game time decision.  I also have some new 44mag ammo I need to test out too that I got from KaleoArms, some high velocity, some cowboy loads.  not enough time to shoot everything I want.  but that's a good problem to have.   :shaka:

Gonna do bolt action .22 with the Boy Scouts

Always interesting when I go do it.

Side note - who carries parts for the Marlin 915Y and Savage Mark I? I need to find extractors and ejectors. Also need the striker retaining screw for the Marlin bolt.

That's awesome!  Shoots like that with youth are so rewarding.

When I first got involved with the annual SSF, I helped in the 22 tent and that was a very popular venue for the kids.  Awesome experience when parents enjoying shooting sports with their kids.  Especially when the second day of SSF was Father's day and families came out for that.

I've been doing it for the last 3 years with the the troops from Mililani.

What really sucks though is the BSA has nobody to run their Shooting Sports program. Their last guy left in January 2017 and they never replaced him. So no maintenance of firearms has been done and they keep getting worse. I asked 2 years ago and never got any response from them. Probably because I'm not a certified NRA instructor, just an RSO. Is anyone in the group going to be offering the NRA Instructor courses here? Mainland is just too expensive.

If anyone was curious..

Took the brand new Advantage Arms .22 conversion for the G19 out and put 200 rounds through it. Ran great. No hiccups, no misfires, jams or anything. I dry cycled it maybe 50 times before I went, ran it wet and shot with CCI Mini-Mags (AA recommends it). Still need to do some sight adjustment because I was shooting 3" low at 15 yards. But for a brand new item, it was hitting the 8-1/2" x 11" paper at 15 yards consistently. Any and all misses were completely operator error.

So if you're looking for a fun alternative to the large calibers, this is a good one.

I have an older AA conversion for my Glock 17 Gen 2 and it works really well. I have tried lots of different HV ammo thru mine and it is picky. It runs Mini Mags and Blazer reliably. Since I am a Blazer fan the conversion is a keeper. I got mine used from a friend. It was already sighted in when I first shot it. I have not tried doing any accuracy testing with it as it is for plinking only for me. I like to say it shoots moment of tin can at 15 yards just fine.

What I like about it is that it allows for me to practice with my Glock trigger as I have modified it. Especially practicing the trigger reset.

Maui Central Guns and Ammo was advertising a NRA rifle instructor course in the Spring on Maui.  Friends of the NRA has a NRA air rifle coaches class every summer.

Edit:  May not need to worry about their shooting program...
