Nice!

I have to get my .22 lr with new barrel out to the range soon.  Doesn't look like I will have time this weekend.  I have a good amount of match 22 ammo and more on the way on the next Kaleo pallet too.

Hey drck1000…is Kaleo shipping a pallet this month?  Do you know when?

Went out yesterday with my AZ neighbor to a local range.  Needed to get my BUIS back close enough to be valid, and mount the Nikon scope.

BUIS went OK despite no decent target for aperture sights.

Scope was doing great at first, some spotters at 50 yards, then out to 100.

The group of three on the right was first.  Got up to crank in some windage (expected) and noticed the scope had shifted forward about a half inch.  No wonder I was having a fit getting a good sight picture.

Had been having trouble on the bench without a stool high enough to get steady behind, but that group was so good even with me wobbling around, I just loosened the rings enough to slide back and tighten it up just to see what happened.  Hey, had to clean the rifle anyway at that point..

Lateral dispersion seems fine, vertical maybe mostly me not steady at the back of the rifle.

All in all, very nice to shoot at a real range, not a broken bottle or shotgun hull to be seen.

Cleaned the rings and scope of oil (my stupidity) and re-torqued.  Will have to wait until next AZ visit to try again.

Next time I will have a proper seat height and not be floundering around, I hope.

Nice.  What kind of rifle?

1/2” shift in scope mount is wild. First time shooting a scope, I typically have some blue tape to mark the eye relief when setting it up. Helps as a marker when shooting. Never had a scope move after mounting, but good to know if didn’t move in case need to troubleshoot anything.

.308 AR I built up.  Barrel is the best part, an 18.5" Criterion that I recently shimmed to the receiver.  It kicks, but not at all intolerable with an adjustable gas block to tame things.  The flyers I used to get are gone, even with surplus 7.62mm ammo.  Looking forward to next range session with some Federal Gold Medal Match ammo.

Scope movement was my goof.   I had lapped the one piece Aero mount and the bare aluminum bothered me so it got a light coat of oil.  Used a torque screwdriver, but did not bring it to check the tension after travel and temperature swings.   Bought another torque screwdriver to leave here.

Whoops!   Using lube on a joint meant not to slip.........Had too many little things turn out to be not locked down enough on this rifle, pride and hubris (thinking something did not matter) slowed my working through them all.

De-greased it all and put it back together.   Be a while until I get back to this range, and will mark the scope as you mention, and have a proper height stool to get solid behind the gun.  I believe the scope mount had lost screw tension over time.    Will add that to pre-shooting checks from now on.

Attached an aerial view of the range I use.

Who is shooting this week?

Planning to head to the range and help a buddy shoot and zero his first AR.  He has shot before and shoots pistols often, but first AR.  His son graduated recently as well, who likes to shoot, so will likely join us.

Will likely shoot my AR with 1-8.  I haven't shot that AR in a long time.  Will see what rust is there.

Gonna be at HDF open shoot. Wanna test out more POA/POI on the M45.  Gonna print out the Baer Solutions drill and do that too.

And function test some new HD ammo (Hornady Critical Defense 185gr).

So prob end up shooting about 300rds 45 ACP again.

Had 2K rounds sitting for 6 months.  Trigger finger got and still is super itchy.  Not sure what platforms Mrs. CMO wants to bring. She still looking for her Stoeger Coach and missed a deal in the classified by 20 mins.

6 months?  Some of it is beyond shelf life.  Give it to me, and I'll take care of it.

I'll likely be at the rifle range same time.  Otherwise, I would bring my Shadow to have Mrs. CMO get "the wants".  ;D

What kind of Shadow? I got a quote from DCT Shadow 2 blue. She's deciding which one to buy.

Target II

The newer Shadow 2 line is solid as well. Lots of aftermarket support.  Get a optic ready one  ;D

Testing some 44magnum 180 grain XTP H110 handloads. Should be some high velocity ammo
Also test out the HK45. From just handling it at home, I'm an instant HK fanboi. Feels like a great pistol. Just the grip in my hand, ergonomics, trigger, feels nice. I'm impressed so far. We'll see how it shoots.

More fireball action?  :o

You should shoot with CMO and the other HK fanbois, including the one who owns nothing. . .  ;D
