Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) was called out this week for claiming a reported $21 trillion in Pentagon accounting errors could fund Medicare-for-all.

Ocasio-Cortez, who will represent New York's 14th congressional district starting in January, cited a Nation story about how $21 trillion in "Pentagon financial transactions" between 1998 and 2015 could not be documented or explained.

“$21T in Pentagon accounting errors. Medicare for All costs ~$32T,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “That means 66% of Medicare for All could have been funded already by the Pentagon.”

Pretty much the same as article above, but this caught my eye.

Kennedy said Ocasio-Cortez lacks a working knowledge of basic economics, which makes it impossible for her to explain how her democratic socialist policies would work in practice.

"It's the downfall of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, because it's built on a foundation of yogurt."

She said Ocasio-Cortez cannot explain why socialist economic policies would benefit the country because she doesn't understand how money and wealth are created.

I thought it was pretty funny at first, but then actually quite scary.  She doesn't need or want to know how it all works.  Probably easy in her mind, as well as other socialists, in that they are counting on the funding to be provided "by others".  And even sadder, I see so many totally eating up and loving the crap she says. . .

I think her biggest problem is understanding the difference between millions, billions and trillions. She's tossing out numbers which anyone with 5th grade math skills knows don't make sense at all.

My take from this article is that she and the other new progressives are a bunch of spoiled little brats. Why not attend the freshman orientation? What do you have to lose? Who knows, you might actually learn something. She doesn’t seem to want to hear from corporate America but what is she going to do when her own Democrat party tries to force her to vote a certain way that aligns with corporations? What is she going to do when the demands of the Socialists contradict with the demands of her constituency or her corporate donors or her political party? She is either going to abandon the people with the money, or the people who vote for her, or the political party you are aligned with. If she starts to compromise or try to appease one or more sectors or another she becomes a sellout. She is really making some rookie mistakes. Especially if she turns her back on the Democrat party. If she stays hard core, I would guess her career will tank. She needs to learn to lie to appease the majority and then do what she wants. It seems to be the American way these days.

The last thing I will say is that this is totally scary to me. I remember the communism scares early in my life. I always felt that everyone was overreacting. Which was sort of true. While I understood the issue of communism taking hold, I didn’t think that communism would have much of a chance to take hold. And fortunately, it never did. But now I am seeing these Socialists making waves and trying to disrupt the status quo in the democrat party. I am seeing my friends who are liberal (not progressives) are becoming enamoured with these darlings of socialism. I’m sorry to say that those of us who do not believe in socialism have a new enemy infiltrating our government. And unfortunately I see the majority of conservatives and republicans as being in the older crowd. We are a dying breed. A large swath of the millenniums are naive and impressionable (generally speaking of course). If the majority of them turn to socialism, the US could be in for a revolution.

I wonder if the Democrat party becomes the socialist party or if the socialist party breaks off and becomes their own third party? That could be a good thing for the Republican Party. I have read that the generation following the millennials seem to lean back towards conservatism. But it is too early to tell to generalize about them yet.

If I live more than 20 more years I might actually live to see Socialism become a large part of American life. I am glad I own firearms.

Those two things are mutually exclusive.  Socialism will only take hold AFTER the "Progressives" succeed in regulating firearms down to a more manageable ("easy to be confiscated") number.

Ocasio-Cortez misquotes the Constitution by saying it only prohibits MEN under 35 years old from running for President.  She said she might "threaten to run" at 29 or 30, just to force the Equal Rights Amendment on Republicans.

The fact is, this is what the Constitution says:

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution,
shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to
the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.

That "no person" phrase seems to indicate her memory isn't very good, or she hasn't spent much time actually reading the text of the Constitution.

She will have a lot to learn when Congress  is sworn in on Jan  2019. She will already be a representative of hypocrisy as representatives swear to uphold and protect the Constitution---I don't see how she can do that when she has already publicly admitted to support Socialism which is opposite of capitalism and democracy. Technically, she should not be able to get her top secret and secret security clearance-----unless the 1st amendment is stretched to accommodate her.

I dunno about the moldable noobie part.  I personally see her as an active socialist progressive that will try to push her and her "group’s" agenda, which may or may not be in line with the DNC.  Personally, I see her being in the media more often than not.  Even negative media about her keeps her somewhat relevant.  IMO.

Exactly my point.  She's going to try to make points while not necessarily wanting or having a realistic chance of changing things.  But she was elected for change and she's trying to show that she's trying to change things.  Somewhat along the lines of what I feel are the emotionally driven younger generation who are pulled toward "democratic socialism".  Again, just MO. 

I'm not looking for it, but I see articles about her statements virtually every single day. She's flapping her lips daily, and there's almost always something quotable because 1. she's an unapologetic socialist, and 2. she's dumb as a rock.

And is it just me, or is her voice "irritating"?
