There is probably some internal policy that prevents individual officers from speaking on behalf of the department so the officers could get disciplined. If they came on their own time and explained that their opinions are their own and not representative of the department then they could not be disciplined because they have the right to free speech.

I wonder what would happen if they publicly stated they could not, or would hesitate, to support a particular firearm law because they believed it may be unconstitutional? That would be a little different situation where they could say something publicly and have a defense
HPD or any officer would never state they will not enforce any unconstitutional laws. We live in a police state.

See current laws as an example. And the excused used that will help them sleep better at night will be "im just following orders".

I wouldn't put money on that bet.

Based on how they act, they will follow the orders and not stand up for the peoples rights and the Constitution. How many HPD officers showed up to hearings in uniform to speak against the proposed laws? Oh yeah...none. Are they afraid of being fired or other disciplinary actions? It's why they have SHOPO and the citizens review board to ensure officers aren't punished punitively for doing the right thing.

Can any HPD officer in this forum state for the record in the same sentence that they are HPD and will defend OUR rights as written in both the US and Hi Constitution? That they won't enforce the Red Flag law? That they believe in open or concealed carry?

How about just carry 10 round magazines like us little people are forced to? You know, in a show of solidarity. I won't hold my breath.

Let me rephrase, publicly state, like how many sheriffs have.

there's quite a few here on this forum...have any of them voiced their opinions on anything pro2A?
You'll read about guns, gear and training but that's it.
At this point it's disheartening but not surprising.
I was very impressed by the courage of that retired detective who spoke at the Senate Committee hearing a few weeks ago. :shaka: If he's a member of this forum I take back my statement.

Don't rock the boat mentality...  along with 90% of the Hawaii gun owners.  If all Hawaii gun owners would vote and take a stand, these law breakers(makers) wouldn't dare

"When i retired, i turned in my badge, gun, cuffs, and radio. Now in just like all these everybody else".

HPD non brass should be on our side. 1 day, they will be just like everyone and forced to defend themselves with a handicap (mag limit, no ccw, no taser, etc..)

I don't think speaking in uniform against department policy would be protected by the union.

Not a question I can answer. They might not hold the same views on constitutionality as you though so understand there would be some wiggle room on understanding what they believe to be constitutional or not.

Will we all sound like this when we are released from the re-education camp?

Please provide objective, documented data (surveys, interviews, public statements) which support your assertion.  Otherwise, what you posted is merely your unsupported opinion.  "Feelings".

I strongly believe cops in general are pro gun.
For themselves, not for you or me.

Precisely how I see it.

For them to be armed while the sheep are not is the perfect situation for them.

OMFG    :o  :wtf:

I never thought I would agree with EEF, but EVERY PO I know personally is pro 2a.
Even gone as far as saying " I know you would have my back " if the situation arose.

But rolling 20 deep with the Chief is okay... Intimidation is a great thing.

Again, one day they will all be just lowly citizens, but then again as retired HPD the rules don't apply to them either.

I think I saw a blue moon last night.  Better watch out for those monkeys. . .

But seriously, I don't know that many POs, but I have met the range with regards to 2a.  Some that are really into firearms, pro 2a, etc.  Then there are those that "only LE should have firearms".  Then are those that frankly seem to care less about firearms and just view it as a requirement for the job (I mean I'm exaggerating. . .).  One of my best friends a cop and we used to hang out with his former partner quite often.  He's one that pretty much only shot at qualification.  We used to joke around that we should challenge one day at the silhouette range.   ;D

funny how the chief says we don't need guns to defend ourselves, at the same time she is wearing a pistol on her hip

This is why we need to fight and not give an inch.  As a result of our forefathers, this is where we end up today.

10rd magazine today, 7rds next.  Then 5 rds, then 3rds.

Saw a banner asking for assault weapons to have 3rd mag limits just like shotguns do for hunting and how we protect geese more than our children.  The response by pro 2a: It's illegal to hunt children.

IIRC, this was in MA.
