Just got notified by the Honolulu Trap Club that the opening of KHSC is for the pistol and rifle side only. Trap, skeet and steel target range as well as any “private” club ranges are not included until further notice.

The latest “official” date that I’ve received is June 5, 2020.
 
 
 
The news media has been reporting that “archery & shooting ranges are cleared for opening.”
 
That’s true, we are clear to open, but have not finalized our operational procedures yet.
 
 
 
Only the Rifle & Pistol Ranges will be open at this time.
 
Due to CDD & State Health guidelines our capacity will be reduced severely.
 
We will attempt to manage the crowds by having a ticket system.
 
Tickets will be passed out prior to the range opening.
 
On the ticket will be the shooting position and time allotted.
 
To accommodate as many shooters as possible, there will be a one (1) hour time limit.

Thanks for sharing this.  Good info.  I understand they will want to accommodate as much shooters as possible but anyone know how many shooting sessions in an hour?  I never kept track when I used to go but I used to shoot for 3 hours.  I go during the week when they are only open 12 to 4.

I'm grateful that the range is opening and understand this need to be safe but I'm kinda sad at the same time.  I live far away and to only shoot for an hour is sad.  But better than nothing. 

Maybe they will let us shoot for say, 45 minutes straight then a 15 minute retrieve your target and get the hell out of your stall for the next guy?

We are happy to let you know that under Mayor Caldwell's Restore Honolulu 3.0 Order, on June 5, the City will be re-opening the Koko Head Shooting Complex with restrictions outlines in the Order (see “outdoor attractions” on page 11 of Exhibit A in the Order).

I saw the new operating procedures for KokoHead......It's awful

One problem is that the new SOP does not allow for proper live-fire training, which the HRS requires for a permit.
Therefore people cannot get qualified for a permit to purchase.
Therefore it becomes a defacto infringement on our second amendment right.

Another problem is that you would need to physically show up to make an "appointment" to shoot.
When all the time slots are filled you are out of luck. That sucks if you live out west side.
