Can someone let the City know that we have this thing called the internet? How about an online scheduling system

The problem with an online system without some kind of Double check is lots of people would “book” slots and never show up.  I’m sure a lot of people would get really irritated 😡 when benches aren’t being used, but there’s a line.  I’d prefer the way they used to handle it now with a sign-in list.  As benches come up RO’s assign the next shooter.  Every shooter is responsible for disinfecting the bench between themselves and the previous shooter.
No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

They’d probably botch the online website more than HPDs current bandaid solution.

I heard/read that some anti-gun/anti-hunting types were going to the Hunter's Ed course signup site and making reservations just to fill up the classes.  They were trying to make it so people really  wanting the class could not get in.

If the anti's figure out the permit process is now tied to online appointments, what's to stop them from doing the same on the HPD site?

How do we know that's not already happening, which might be the reason reservations are now 2 months out?

I have heard that!
I have a Hawaii hunter license diploma
and a Hawaii hunting license.
I had lost my CA hunter license diploma,
so had I to suffer through the Hawaiian course
which I think is useless.
Hawaii instructor guys wanted me to become an Instructor.

I could see how anti-gun people can
jamb that system up.
Laws were set up that way.

They always accept standbys.. in my 28 years as a master instructor with the Hawaii Hunter Ed program I can count on one hand how many times we had to turn standbys away.

If the slots had been filled by actual students, more would have been turned away. In other words, if the normal number of standbys came out, and there were fewer no-shows, more would have been turned away.

At some point, it would make more sense to have 100% walk-in enrollment, because fraudulent preregistration causes confusion IMHO.

I saw the new operating procedures for KokoHead......It's awful :( >:(

One problem is that the new SOP does not allow for proper live-fire training, which the HRS requires for a permit.
Therefore people cannot get qualified for a permit to purchase.
Therefore it becomes a defacto infringement on our second amendment right.

Another problem is that you would need to physically show up to make an "appointment" to shoot.
When all the time slots are filled you are out of luck. That sucks if you live out west side.

Wonderful.  Just wonderful.  Not good.  Can they at least make sure all benches are open?  I noticed at the rifle section the extreme right hand side is always roped off (at least when I go weekdays).  The area downrange of that section doesn't look maintained either.

Gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out. Hope people who go initially can share their report of how it went. I just don't see how it will be possible to even do any productive load development within that time window. Sighting in for hunting season, ya maybe, but trying to zero a new scope / rifle, work up loads, gather data for DOPE, good luck with all that. Going to have to take 3-4 trips to equal 1 day.

Would definitely like to see the public version of the new SOP. Just saw a post for an LGS offering lessons in June. Would definitely like clarification as I have several friends/new shooters that have been itching to go to the range.

Also, any representative from HRA able to confirm cancellation of SSF2020 due to new guidelines?

From an HRA representative . . .  "Our Anuual Shooting Sports Fair scheduled in July will regrettably be cancelled due to the current Covid-19 situation"

I feel like a person suffering from bi-polar disorder.  When I first heard the range is opening I was in a euphoric high.  Then I found out it will be open on June 5th.  I immediately bottomed out.  Then I went on a high again thinking it will open soon.

Then info about tickets given out for 1 hr. time slots came out.  I bottomed out again, especially when you have to show up to get a slot.

As mentioned, what if you load up your firearms, target frame, and all the other things you need for a day at the range only to find out when you get there that the slots are all filled?

OMG, I'm on an emotional rollercoaster. :shake:

I usually shoot 2-3 sessions of 5 shots, then leave the bench to sit back and watch other shooters.  Of course I do this if the range is not busy with people waiting to shoot.

Shooting is my recreation.  I really don't mind this 1 hr. sessions being planned since I know there are lots of people who want to utilize the range.

What concerns me is if I show up and the slots are already taken. ???

If you finish your hour, and nobody else is waiting for your spot, will the RSOs extend your time, or are they being instructed to kick people out for no other reason than "it's written in the SOP"?

Wonder if they will let a group share a table?  My friends don’t have toys and have to use mine.

So if 3 people, share a table for 3 hours.
