missed this earlier in all your BS
don't you work in computers/networking?
explain to me how using current technology that we can ensure that this is secure...
Identity theft crimes have grown faster in the last 10-15 years than any other crime in the WORLD.
All the phishing emails, malicious webpages, spoof sites/pages, and phone scams use the latest tech to take people's property.
As an example, let's say you get an email from GMail or Hotmail saying your account has been accessed, and you need to change your password to ensure your email is secure. So, you click the link, log in, and change your password. Good for you!
Only the link you clicked to go change your password was bogus. You just went to a fake site and gave them your passwords.
Why is your email password a big deal? Email is the number one way companies verify your identity.
The crook now clicks "I Forgot My Password" on your banking site. The site sends a link to your email address to do a reset. The crook logs into your email, clicks the link, then changes your password. Your account balances are ZERO after they transfer the funds to another account (PayPal, maybe?).
That's just one type of attack. What happens when your email address is compromised, and the password thief uses your credentials to vote on your behalf?
Good luck trying to cancel that electronic ballot after the election results are certified.
